Have you ever done a character breakfast or dinner?

We did a couple of these a few years ago. We actually got to go to the very last Villians one they were having. This included such characters as the Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook and Govenor Radcliffe. It was awesome. To be honest now to really see any of the characters you have to do a character meal. We did the Chrystal Palace one with the Pooh Characters and also the one over in Adventure land near the Haunted manion with Minnie, Donald etc. My neice loved it.

We saw all the characters even without the character meal, but what we liked about the meal was the kids had more time with them and we were able to take many more shots with our camera. We also took video. Some characters came by our tables twice and they interacted with our kids in the cutest way!

It wasn't called a character meal so we didn't have to pay extra, but we went to the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom and they have all the Pooh characters there. They come right around to all the tables to sign autographs and take pictures. Every once in a while they break into a song and march around the room with all the kids. It was really fun and the food was good too. It was an all you can eat buffet that had a nice variety of things to choose from.

Next time we go I want to do Chef Mickey! I've heard some nice things about it.
When we went we did Crystal Palace. The kids had a ball. At the time we went we got a kick out of telling Pooh that our cat was also named Pooh....he even wrote in our book for us to tell Pooh Hi from him! Next time we go we get to tell Tigger the same thing as we added another cat to our family ...and his name HAD to be Tigger!

Oh my, have we done character meals. Let's see.
Chef Mickey's for breakfast and dinner
Cinderella's Royal Table, breakfast
Crystal Palace, breakfast, lunch, AND dinner
Liberty Tree Tavern, dinner
'Ohana, breakfast
Akershus (Norway), lunch
Most of those we've done two or more times. For non-face characters, our favorites are Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace by far. We wouldn't do Liberty Tree again, the food was BLECH, though the character interaction was great.
For the princesses, we really love Cinderella's Royal Table. The price jump lately is shocking, though! We're going to try for it again this fall for DD's birthday, but after that we probably won't go again. Three times is enough.

I did the character breakfast in the castle. It was good, but you're really paying for the experience, not the food. I would like to try Chef Mickey's, 1900 Park Fare, Cape May, and the Crystal Palace, too! I usually don't do the character meals, though, just because of the price. I'm so cheap when it comes to food on vacation- $20-30 for one meal is hard for me to justify.

I agree, it's very hard to justify. I think we'll just do one this time around, but who knows. My husband is a huge Disney fan and he might go overboard! We're using our tax refund money to go back to Disney and Universal sometime this fall... going for 14 days! Boy, are we going to be beat when we get home! lol

Ooh, I didn't know that Chef Mickey's had a character dinner... We're planning a trip to WDW this fall, and a friend recommended that we go to Chef Mickey's for dinner the first night. Is every night a character dinner?
She highly recommended the princess breakfast in Cinderella's castle (I think the name of the restaurant is Cinderella's Royal Table), and told me to be on the phone making reservations 180 days ahead of time. Yikes, no pressure there! (She also said that the princess breakfast at Akershus in Epcot is nice.)
I can't wait to get there - we're not going to tell my daughter about the character breakfast until we're on our way there, I think. Otherwise, that's all I'd hear from now till September!

You have to make reservations to do the character dinner or breakfasts, so I'd find out now how far in advance the take reservations. I've heard the princess breakfast books up very fast! 180 days sounds crazy, but I remember my husband telling me that the waiting list was several months long, so that's probably right! Very crazy.
I think you'll have a much easier time getting into Chef Micky and you'll love it! I think we're going to make it a tradition. We're going back this fall too! lol, maybe we'll see you there, not that I'd know it was you that I was seeing though! Sorry, I'm a goof!

We just got back from our first trip to Disney World and we did the character lunch buffet at Hollywood & Vine at Hollywood Studios. It had characters from Playhouse Disney. It was great. They were very interactive, got the kids up and singing every 15 minutes, and had a fairly decent food spread. It was definitely pricey though... For 3 of us paying it was nearly $100.
