What? James Cameron has found the bodies of Jesus, Mary and Joseph?

Oh, well, maybe the Titanic wasn't big enough for him. James Cameron claims to have found the bodies of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. They were apparently found in a 2,000-year-old tomb 20 years ago, and their names were attached to the caskets. It took 20 years to translate the names, and Cameron claims to have DNA evidence that the bodies are those of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. It's all supposed to come out officially on Monday on the Discovery Channel. Some discovery! Also, there appears to be evidence that Jesus married Mary Magdalene and they had a girl, just like the Da Vinci Code says. Here we go again. Have fun!

If that could be proven... that would be fun indeed.
But even with all the evidence... DNA and whatever... not a single Christian will believe it. Just like they won't even consider looking at the theory of the Big Bang.
The only thing which puzzle me here... is why would it take 20 years to translate three names. They already had a modern language in those days. We had no trouble translating the old testament.
And of course... there could not be any DNA evidence if Jesus was conceived by God... as we don't have God's DNA... lol
However... if Jesus has the DNA of Joseph and Mary... then you have big problems... lol

I'm a Christian and believe the Big Bang theory. I also believe that the cause of the Big Bang was God.

Indeed, the time of Christ is not so ancient that DNA could not be used in a prudent scientific inquiry. In fact, I saw a presentation recently that connected what was thought to be a mummy of an average Egyptian (maybe a priest of some kind) and it turned out scientists could use DNA to make a family connection to one of the Pharohs, and those guys were around thousands of years before Christ. And, well, Jesus did have to have some DNA code; otherwise he would not be able to have been born human. That he was divinely conceived would have still required DNA from someplace.

We are on the period that Anti Christ will be stronger and stronger and it is on the Bible so hold on Christians and believers of God. For those that dont have faith will be deceive. They will come up with evidence against Jesus. I dont believe that Jesus married Magdalene. Why is it only now they discovered that body.

Well, the scriptures speak for themselves and, indeed, your point appears to be in the right. Perhaps we should all be more aware of the end times, for they might well be upon us as we discuss this very topic.

Islander: Even a simpleton can read the Bible, especially Daniel and Revelation, and see the distinct connection between those scriptures and modern occurrences. You don't have to be a believer to see this obvious unfolding of prophectic events.

You could have a point there. Seems all these "startling disclosures" have some kind of catch to them.

really??? thats nice if its true..but i think its a hoax! how can they say that they have the dna for proof that its legit?...do they have the dna of God instored in their Lab.? thats ridiculous indeed...before we can confirm that its there we must first have the original dna of God...during those time does dna exists ??well...uhmmm...

Oh dear this has got to be a false I do not believe such a thing that James Cameron found these bodies they must be the bodies of someone else, Jesus body is not on earth anywhere. How can you believe in such a false docuement. Plus Jesus Christ never married anyone so I do not believe this in the bible they said that many false claims would be told and this must be one of them.

From a biblical point of view its impossible to find the body of Jesus. But what really fascinates how can he proof that the DNA is from Jesus, Mary and Joseph since they had no DNA database in those days. All he can proof is that htey were related to each other. But since Miriam, Joseph and Yeshua were common names it's perfectly understandable that they could find a family tomb with those names on it.

How do you explain than that in the grave nothing remainded but the swathings in which the body was wrapped.
This could indicate two things: 1 that the body was risen 2 that the body was robbed or brought to another place by his disciples.

I just want to add that the Bible says Anastasis when talking about resurrection which translanted meas Up-standing of the body. Something the Jews would understand since they believe in an upstanding of the body when the Messiah returns.

No wonder his friends and associateed did not recognize him. The last thing they saw of him was a broken, mangled, disfigured body. Thomas went even as far that he needed proof by seeing the stigmata.

In the last days the bible says there will be many who claim that they are Jesus, so these wild claims are no surprise

Precisely. This is no worse a scenario than, say, Jim Jones and the Jonestown massacre of 1979, or of Mormon founder Joseph Smith claiming prophetic visions by looking at rocks in his hat.

I'm not so sure about that. The true believers will simply say that this is the latest in a long line of hoaxes. It might even ignite a revival among Christians. Who knows? And a discovery like this will not necessary render all the claims of Christianity false.

yeah, that would be pretty damn interesting. there is a lot of evidance saying that jesus could have married and of course a lot of theories. but this will be scrutinized by the biblical/historical scholors and of course scientists as well. i'm not too sure how DNA testing can be done since they really have no exisiting DNA of Jesus' family line. but i would love to watch it. would you happen to know the air date or the name the documentry??

It couldn't be proved with DNA regardless. To identify someone with DNA you have to have a sample to compare it to. This is a pretty ridiculous claim.

Oh wow, where did you hear that? I haven't heard it yet until just now from you. Not that I am in any way accusing you of lieing. Wow that's crazy! I can't believe that! What are your thoughts...do you believe him? It seems really strange to me. I wish I could see that on the Discovery Channel but unfortunately I have to work. But I will definitely be looking into that one!

Well, as has already been disclosed, the discovery itself is old, but was dismissed as having nothing to do with the family of Jesus. But apparently that has changed. They just recently were able to translate the nameplates on the caskets. The names match the names of Christ's family members, and possibly of Jesus himself. Yes, this is a 20-year-old find, but DNA technology might well have blown this story wide open.

Sounds a bit far fetched to me. Why would such a poor family be buried in a tomb together? I think it is just rubbish myself, but will be interesting to find out what evidence there is to prove it. There isn't even that strong evidence to prove Jesus existed at all.

Oh, it's just the opposite. Tombs of this kind were reserved for the wealthy. That would mean that the family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph -- and of Mary Magdalene, who is also reputed to be among family emmbers buried in that same tomb -- would have been, in reality, rich people of the day. As for the reality of a physical Jesus, that also has merit. The historian Josephus mentions Jesus, even the crucifixion, in his secular writings.

Isn't it funny how all these so called claims came about after the Da Vinci Code was released?
I read the book and I've seen the movie, and I thoroughly enjoyed them both, but people fail to realize that none of it is real! It states in the front of the book that it's not real, and yet we now have all these people going with these crazy claims of Jesus and Mary Magdalene being this that and the other.
I don't have the discovery channel so it would be interesting to see what is actually revealed. I do hope someone will watch it and let the rest of us know what was revealed.

Most good fiction is but a veneer painted over a deeper truth. Schindler's List is one example; it is a novel, but drawn from truths about the Holocaust and World War II. The Da Vinci Code is fiction, drawn from the what are said to be truths about the real relationship betgween Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene, and of a girl that was borned between them.

I think it's a hoax. Its probably just coincidence if they were called those names, and how do we know they really found them there and that those are the actualy translations of the names. And how can they DNA test? they would need a sample to test it against which they don't have.

I´m very sceptical about the discovery of James Cameron. He likes bombastic superproductions and in my opinion he´s found a good way to get publicity. Unfortunately I don´t have Discovery Channel, so I won´t be able to follow the story of this amazing discovery, lol.
I´ll believe it if Cameron can actually proove it.
Interesting topic, radicalpatriot.

This too shall past.
It is the result of unbelief.
For those who do not believe no explanation is possible;
But I pray they keep seeking.
For those who believe Christ if the risen Savior, pardoning the sins of all who turn to Him, no explanation is necessary. The just shall live by faith.
For by grace ye are saved through faith; and not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephes. 2:8-9

Duh? James Cameron said so? He must have a big budget movie coming in and this is just part of the publicity stuff. Hollywood is hollywood, nothing new. Well, let's wait and see what the movie will be like shall we? LOL

I wouldn't put it past him to make this a publicity stunt, but it is highly, highly unlikely. He has kept this project under wraps until now. Had he released information on this earlier, there would have been a fight to keep it from being broadcast. He has sunk his own funds into the project. No, something else is afoot. He would have made a much larger fortune on this had he gone to major networks. Instead, he chose a narrowly focused cable station. We'll see.
