The absolute best facial cleaner that I have found is Johnson & Johnson's Baby Shampoo. It is a gentle enough soap to not harm my skin, but strong enough to remove excess oils. I wash my face every night with it & them put on a small amount of moisturizer. I very rarely have blemishes & I am pushing 40 and don't have wrinkles (yet). Don't judge my skin by that photo, I am not that pink. LOL

for stubborn waterproof mascara, if you don't have makeup removers on hand you can try baby oil. wipe off and wash your face with your facial cleanser.
at night, use toner and moisturizer and eye cream (very very important!). use exfoliant only once a week even if you're only. too much facial scrub will only result in the drying of the upper layer of the skin. so it's like having oily skin but dry patches on the uppermost layer. see a dermatologist rather than experimenting on commercial products.
use water based moisturizer if you're oily. avoid heavy creams if oily skin specially during the day. nevertheless still use eyecream.
if possible use sunblock w/ spf during the day to protect your face. there are tinted moisturizers out there so it doubles as light makeup.

Step One…Steaming Things Up
Before going to bed, you want to cleanse your skin of make-up, environmental toxins and just plain dirt that it has gathered throughout the day. You may use a facial steamer for this, but here is what I do. Wring a washcloth under very hot water (do not burn yourself, but hot…) and hold the cloth very close to your face for 1-2 minutes. The steam will penetrate the pores, opening them for thorough cleansing.
Step Two…A Good Cleanse
Now that your pores are open, splash warm water on your face and even your neck. Work your cleanser into your hands, mix with a touch of water and work it into a lather. Massage onto your moist face, using your fingertips or a very soft cloth or complexion brush, in a circular motion for about 30 seconds. Rinse well with warm water, finishing with a cold splash. Pat your face dry with a clean, soft towel.
Tip: On a daily basis, use a cleanser that is pure, natural and non-abrasive. My favorites are by Reviva Labs. I use the Olive Oil Antioxidant Cleansing Lotion every day and when I want something extra gentle, I use their Organic Cleansing Milk. They both leave my skin refreshingly clean and soft.

There are so many things that you can do that work just fine, but this is what I do.
I use Mary Kay Timewise facial cleanser every night to remove dirt, oil, and makeup. It's a great exfoliator and it helps with clogged pores. I then use the timewise moisturizer. I used to have really oily skin, and ever since I started using the Timewise formula, my skin has been really soft, not oily at all, and I have had few breakouts. I love it! For eye makeup, I just use Loreal eye makeup remover. It seems to work really well!
The important thing though is to ALWAYS make sure to remove your makeup before bedtime. I have been told that you age 10 times faster if you don't remove your makeup every night. Like I said, you don't have to use mary kay, but there are tons of products you can use in order to accompish it. I would suggest browsing the facial cleanser sections of Target, Walmart, etc to see what you think would be best for you.

Just use make-up remover. If your over 40 you might want to consider a night cream.

I use two seperate makeup removers to remove my make up:
Andrea Eye Q's Ultra Quick Eye Makeup Remover Pads (to remove my eye makeup)
Biore Cleansing Oil (to remove my face makeup)
Then, because the above products are oil-based, I follow by a cleanser (currently I am using Burt's Bees Orange Essence Cleanser - very moisturizing and has a great relaxing scent).
After that, I will follow by some firming serum (Alqvimia White Light) or hydrating essence (juju aquamoist essence). Last I will use a night cream (currently using regene aqua spa all mighty cream).
The above is only a beauty routine. I do have add-ons from time to time. Like once a week, I would do a deep cleansing mask to clean the pores; and I would do a hydrating mask twice a week to strongly replenish the lost moisture in the skin. Sometimes when my skin is dull, I use a massage cream to gently massage my face to fasten the blood circulation.

Arbonne International has a GREAT make-up remover! It's all natural, botanical and beneficial. And it doens't sting in your eyes when removing eyeliner or mascara. After you remove the make-up, you can use a gentle cleanser and a moisturizer. I suggest the Intelligence Not-So-Basic line for someone your age. check the website in my profile or PM me and I can tell you more!

I just use a make-up remover wipe but i'm kinda lazy! Really I should cleanse and moisturise after doing this. If my skins bad I apply zineryt lotion before bed.
