Chocolate is bad for diabetics. It is full of sugar and fat and is also addictive.
It is much better for them to eat plain chocolate that has low sugar in limited quantities, but the best thing is to not buy it at all then they won't be tempted.

Hi there, I am also a diabetic. I use Carob as a chocolate subsitute. You can find it in any health food store. The dark chocolate is actually good for you. I limit my sugars, those that I get from food and when I think I have saved enough from the day, I have a very small dark chocolate sundee.Yummy.No more than once a month. But I so look foward to it.

My husband is a diabetic ,I have had to stop buying my candy bars too....
Any form of sugar could be harmful, though at times if he has been extra good !I do buy a dark chocolate bar for us to share. You cannot deny someone who is use to eating everything in a day it takes time to adjust.Unless your brother is in very bad shape or his #'s or off the wall I see no harm in a occasional sweet.
You say younger and it makes me wonder just what his age is,it is a good thing to start eating right for his diabetes if he does not want to remain on meds for the rest of his life. So there are two ways of looking at it all.Diabetes can hurt every organ in your body if not kept under control. You must weigh it out and decide what is the best thing to do.

He says its mild ,I hope for his sake it is . Ask him what his #'s are when he tests himself if he is doing good they will be 100 or under. The National Foundation for Diabetes has alot more info. then any one person could give you seeing that what might be good for one is in fact bad for another.
