I would choose swimming pool if I need the workout but if I want to have fun I'll definitely pick the sea. Both has pros and cons so it will really depend on the swimmers' preferences. I live in the city so in order to get to the beach I may need to travel 2-3 hours whilst going to a swimming pool can be as fast as 10 minutes.

I prefer swimming pools. Mostly because I don't like the saltwater, or the shells & stuff that are on the ground at the beach. Now that it's wintertime, I like my inlaws' hot tub! I even take DS (14 months) swimming in it with the heat turned down.

I prefer to be on a beach because i am sure it would be much cleaner than pool whom we don't know who use that one. In a beach, the water would flow while on a pool, you are sharing the same dirt.

I much prefer swimming in the pool, for me it is not just safer, but usually warmer as I live int he UK and we are not known for warm seas.

as for me, it depends on my purpose.. like it i want to do swimming in laps, i would go to the pool but if i want to enjoy marine life, i would go to the beach.. yep, pool is a lot safer than the beach.

I am yet a beginner swimmer..lol and my swimming instructor advised me to go swimming on pools until I get to swim a lot better. And yeah, pools are a lot safer than the beaches..and in my case, I wouldn't enjoy the beaches so much coz I still can't go a far... :)
