I've often wondered about this, and I've wondered how English sounds to foreigners. Some say German sounds very harsh, and that Russian sounds angry or scary. I personally think both languages are beautiful and romantic.

There was no communication network hundreds of years ago like we have today. People always lived in small communities at different places. They didnt have the means to travel far and wide. Since they have to communicate with each other they developed their own language. So there were multiple languages.

LOL did you ever heard story about Tower of babel? ;)
In the start all people spoke in 1 language. The Tower of babel was a tower built by a united humanity to reach the heavens. God, observing the unity of humanity in the construction, resolved to destroy the tower and confuse the previously uniform , thereby preventing any such future efforts. So, God did many many languages, and people started talk in all these languages and of course they didnt understand each other and stopped build that tower... LOL

People speak different languages because when we first started to speak to each other there were different tribes spread all over the place so they all spoke in different ways. It was only when they met up that they had to try and speak the same language.
Languages also change when tribes split, like when people from England moved to America and Australia and the languages have changed from there too.
