Grandson has a Mohawk.

My five year-old grandson has a Mohawk haircut. His mother decided to cut his hair short due to a case of head lice. The kid thinks this is the coolest thing. He was bopping around the room like Mr. Cooldude.
I thought the cut was rather drastic. She said it was easier than working the lice and nits out of his hair. I would have to agree on that one.

I bet it looks really cute. My boyfriend has a mohawk and he is one of the few people in my area that have their hair that way. I'm trying to get him to dye it blue, but he won't.lol

What a chicken! Well, not too much of a chicken if he sports a Mohawk.

Cute--- and What a great way to turn a bad experience (lice) for your grandson into a cool experience-- other kids liking it.
Mohawks-- hey they were cool when I was a kid.. I haven't seen one in a while- but I bet he is sure cute!

I have to agree that cutting boys hair is much easier.
Although, I would still treat their hair and their bedding, it was much easier to cut the boys hair very short when they got lice.
I wish I could have done that to the girls. But I didn't want to upset them. ha ha

The girls always squawk about cutting their locks off! Except those that may be following the Brittany Spears trend of the week.

More appropriate than on a girl, which I have seen. Hey, maybe Britney Spears had headlice and wanted to get rid of them.LOL

I remember one year, every boy in my class got a mohawk. It was so in style then. Now anything is in style. Everyone just wears their hair the way they like it and I think htat is great. Glad he loves his new hair cut. That is just so cool. I agree, it sure would be easier. Lice seems to make its rounds at each school every year.

Better to have a mohawk at 5 years old than at 25 when he is trying to get a job. Right?
Good point about the lice, too.

I have to agree with her it is easier than fighting with the shampoo and the comb. I have to say tho wouldent it have been easier to just butch his head all together. I dont know just a thought.

I think it sounds bright, and he must be as cute as can be. As long as the kids think it is cool, and he isn't being picked on, that's another plus. Great idea for mom, she gets a thumbs up.

It is a lot easier in a situation like that. I am sure he is probably adorable with it :)

hahaha well my Son used to have one of them all the time when he was younger. He used to love it. You Daughter is right though it is easier to keep them of him that way. My Daughter got them once and she had long thick hair so you can imagine what that was like.

Yes well your daughter did the right thing to cut off your grandson's hair and it must look ok he is only yuong and let him enjoy his mohawk haircut as it will grow back and then it will be normal again, he probably goes to school and this is the main place where unfortunately the children get head lice.

Normally I would think that cutting a childs hair due to headlice is a bit extreme and an outdated method. But the mohawk look is very cool amongst boys, so it's not going to matter.
Treating headlice is a pain. My daughter had it a lot in primary school, and she had long hair. I used to treat with shampoo, egg removal comb, and the electric ryobi flea remover. Normally all three methods would be required, and, I had to do it a few times to have a final impact.

To my knowledge he has been fortunate only to have two bouts with lice. He loves his new hairdo. I am sure he will be a hit today with his classmates when he returns to school.

As many other people said I bet it's adorable. It's not one of my favorite hairstyles around but I can think of worse things. Head lice is no fun to deal with and I say what ever makes it easier to deal with the better. My daughter got head lice when she was 8 years old. Her hair went to her waist. I was almost to the point of cutting it off, and probably would have if she would have agreed. It took a week for me to get rid of it. I'm glad that he was agreeable and that all turned out good. I hope that he enjoys his new do, and that the little buggers (lice) are gone for good. :)

I have to agree, that it is probably the best way to deal with lice. They can be so hard to get rid of. I thank goodness neither of my kids ever got them. I bet he looks kinda cute...I pictured a miniture Mr.T, lol. Don't worry grandma, his hair will grow back, and probably rather quickly too.

I don't know how old he is but she is right it certainly would be easier to take care of and to avoid a re-infestation. I'll bet he looks really cute.

Awww, how cute! It will grow back grandma! In the meantime it is easier for Mom and the child is happy so all is well with the world. I bet he is cute as a button! I remember when headlice went around the schools when my children were smaller. Somehow I was fortunate and none of mine got them. I remember my best friend's daughter got them, and she had hair almost down to her waist that was as thick as hops. It wasn't fun. We worked for hours getting the nits.

I almost gave CJ a mohawk once...Didn't know how to do it correctly, though; not good at giving hair cuts so I always use the buzzer.
There was a 12 year old who had a mohawk last Xmas, in Kmart; I couldn't stop looking at it, it was so cool. I think letting kids express themselves with their hair is a good way to help keep them out of other things that may hurt them. The hair will always grow out.

I bet it looks cute on the little guy though . And it would easier then picking the lice and nits out also . My son wanted a mohawk one year and this is why I did it to him also as lice was going around the school and I figured it would help prevent him from getting it . It worked as he never did bring anything home .
