Hard Ice Cream or Soft Serve?

My co-worker and I have been having a debate today about ice cream. She prefers soft serve ice cream, while I prefer the more traditional hard scooped ice cream. I like my ice cream to have chunks in it sometimes and you can't always get that with soft serve unless you have it mixed in or something.
So, what do you prefer? Soft serve, or hard scooped?

I agree with you that you are more likely to have chucks in hard ice cream, but I also like Soft Served at times to. My favorite is hard scooped strawberry with real strawberries in it :) Soft serve can be great also, and I love it with sprinkles. For some reason it's just a better alternative sometimes.
Honestly though, I love ice cream so much that I'm fine with whatever is available!

Good point. There are times when I prefer soft serve as well, but my favorite flavors only seems to come in hard ice cream. I love ice cream too and there are plenty of times that I'll take it however I can get it...soft serve, hard scooped, on a stick, whatever. I just love the stuff.

Sadly...due to lactose issues, ice cream dosen't seem to love me as much as I love it. But if I had to choose I think I might actually go with soft serve....purely based on the fact that I associate soft serve with more "fun" things. Since you can't buy soft serve at a average supermarket or grocery store (like hard ice cream), it feels more like a special treat. Plus the way it's served, twisted on a cone or in a cup, just seems more fun than a regular scoop. I love sprinkles on my ice cream, and I think they stick better to soft serve too.
My favorite is combonation is an orange/vanilla twist. It tastes like a creamcicle and that's awesome!

I prefer hard ice cream. I am lactose intollerant... so I can sometimes eat the hard ice cream. The soft serve makes me sick every time. My fiance's cousin owns an icecream shop and he sells both kinds. I don't usually have a problem with his hard ice cream. It's Working Cow brand. I love the peppermint, the mint chocolate chip and the chocolate peanut butter flavors.

I like both, really. It depends on my mood. Soft serve does have more limited possibilities in regards to flavors, but sometimes it's nice to just have the creamy coolness of soft serve.
