My friend recently had her first baby. I noticed she got lots of stretch marks on her stomach. Aside from surgeries, is there any way she can get rid of those nasty, unwanted stretchmarks?

Actualy strectchmarks is due to excessive streching of skin layers coz of pregnancy.
so to avoid that u will have to use some creams like "STRETCH NIL" .
U WILL HV TO use it since 3rd month of pregnancy daily 2 times over lower abdomen, for next months till the delivery.
result wil b fantastic . u will find that no stretch mark would be there.

Yep strechmarks are permanent but can fade over time. There is however a product which purports to deal with it called Bio Oil. Its really popular here in New Zealnd. I can't attest to it because after 6 kids I have none. Lubricate well (1)to accomodate the expansion process and (2) to eliminate the inevitable dryness which causes irritation making you scratch. Scratching is the worst crime and you can expect marks whereever you decide to give in to the temptation. Hope Im been hopeful for both preventing and dealing with them when they occur.

Yep, just like mrniceguy said, they are there to stay. No matter what cream you use they won't go away. They will fade a lot though. I have stretch marks from junior high that you really have to look to be able to see them. So the only thing to do is give them time.

Nope. Stretch marks are permanent stretching of skin under your top layers. The redness fades with return to normal weight but the "scars" will always be there.

Nope, they are permanent. Your tissue is damaged and there's no creams that can repair them. They do fade and when they are older, I believe, tanning will make them less visible. When they are fresh they are white, but when they fade, they get darker, so the darker skin will camouflage them more.

My sister works in the medical field. She says stretchmarks can only be removed through cosmetic surgery.
