I was told today that eating too much fruit is really bad for you. More then two pieces a day. Im a huge fruit eater, i can eat a whole melon or pineapple in one sitting. So that dosent bode well for me. What are your thoughts on that?

I don't think it would be possible to eat too much fruit unless you were a brittle diabetic maybe. The USDA recommends 9 servings of ruit and/or veg a day.

That seems weird to me. I love fruit and the Dr is always encouraging people to eat more fruit. Where did you hear it? Was it from a reputable source? Even if it were true, I would still eat alot of fruit because it is one of natures foods and I think natures foods are the best for us

Fruits - We should have Fruits as much we can...its healthy not bad..
i dont think so, Doctors always suggest that we should take fruits as much as we can, even they suggests for have juices, so that much quantity of fruits we can eat.. bcz whnever we can eat jus one apple once, bt in a glass of juice we will have 3-4 apples in a time..so its not bad..its healthy.. so enjoy..

i can't say its real but i won't debate on this issue 'coz i can also eat much fruits daily. the only thing that i have observed to be so acidic when you eat too much is pineapple 'coz my stomach will really feel sour with it & i have experienced hyperacidity already of eating pineapple for couple of days then. for banana some may say can cause constipation while papaya may cause loose bowel movement . an enough serving of any fruit won't do harm to anybody so just eat fruits in moderation or just an enough serving quantity to bring a healthy body !

Some fruits can give you the runs if you eat too much, but other than the sugar content, which can be bad for diabetics and someone on a diet, there's nothing wrong with eating plenty of fruit.

Over-eating maybe considered too much thus causing you some health problems..but giving you a maximum of two pieces a day? meaning if you eat three or four, you'll get into trouble? com'on...they must be kidding... I guess there's no problem with eating fruits a lot, not unless you'll eat nothing but fruits for the whole day... :)

I don't think you can eat too much fruit. Fruit is nature's pick me up and much better for you than any other snack food, and many other foods. I can also eat a whole melon! Although I rarely get the chance because all 3 of my children have caught my love of fruit. We almost always eat fruit for breakfast and throughout the morning until lunchtime. It really seems to improve my energy level to stay with fruit until lunch or sometimes dinner. Raw veggies are good too! Also, only certain fruits make you have the "runs". Melons are a big one. Most things with more fiber (apples, bananas, etc) can actually help balance your digestive system.

I eat a TON of fruit, and I've never had any adverse effects from it. One day I ate 6 grapefruit (pregnancy craving). Most days I'll have 2 bananas, an apple, some dried fruit like apricots or figs, and one or two other pieces of fruit. I could sit and eat a whole container of blueberries, a bag of cherries, half a watermelon... no problem! And I'm with you on the whole pineapple thing... I can't stop eating it! I've never had an issue with fruit sugar, and I'm hypoglycemic.. I just make sure to eat nuts, cheese, or some other protein and I feel great! Super healthy! Plus, if you count tomatoes and avocados into that '2 a day' equation... no way! Sometimes I will cut up like, 3 tomatoes with a little salt and eat the whole bowl. I am a vegetarian and I love, love, love my fruits and vegetables. I've heard that 'fruitarians' are some of the healthiest people alive... I say eat up!

That's not true! You can eat more than 2 pieces of fruit a day and it would be good for you! The only thing I would be concerned about is all the sugar fruit contains. Yes, it is natural sugars but too much sugar can make your "poop" watery and give you stomach aches! Sorry to be so detailed but it's true! Eat more fruits and veggies!! (As much as you want...it'll never be 'bad' for you, you'll just get watery you know what and if you don't mind the stomach aches then go for it!)

Thats what i thought too! I was like are you kidding 2 pieces a day? Thats like an apple and an orange. What about the rest of the fruit that is out there. Its so good and tasty and good for you! What is the point in limiting it? Natural sugar is so much better for you then fake sugar. Lol and ive never had stomach issues from eating fruit lol. Broccoli maybe.

Sometimes I eat nuts for healthy consideration and taste.I like to have them with my family with fruit in hand and chat. I'm not now much of a fruit eater & never really have been much of one. But I love eating bananas the most. Ever so often I get into a pineapple kick. I eat them as they come mostly. Canned pineapple though. I hate having to cut them myself. Once in awhile Ill buy fres sliced pineapples from the local stores. Thanks for this topic also.love dried cherries in the winter, since it's hard to find decently priced fresh cherries. Making home-made apple pie filling and eating it out of the dish you made it in is also delicious.
