I don't have any child yet, but if ever am gonna have one, I'll sure encourage him to participate in extra curricular activities as I was used to join any extra curricular activities that interested me when I was yet in school. I believe these activities are a great avenue for a student to expose himself to the open, apply whatever learnings he got in his classroom, and learn new things in the real life outside the four corners of his classroom.

of course! They are now involved in swimming, as it is getting quite close to summer where we are. they also used to do voice lessons, ballet, taekwondo and art lessons. I think it's a very healthy thing to have extra curricular activites and makes for a more well-rounded child.

Yes. extra-curricular activities will help them develop time management skills and create new friends. Also, it will make kids more holistic, not just confined to what the books say

yes, absolutely. it helps my kids develop not only their talents but their social skils as well. I believe children should not be confined in the four corners of the classroom alone. they need to explore more and we should be there to guide them in their discovery of the world around them. :-)

My son is only 7 months old so I have awhile before this becomes an issue. However, I helped raise my nephew and I feel strongly that if a child wants to participate in an extra curricular activity and they can keep their grade up they should be allowed to participate. However, if their grades start to slip then I think it is better to stop the activity until their grades go back up.
