Apple instead of coffee

Apple - Apple instead of coffee?
Oman

I read somewhere that eating an apple wakes you up and refreshes you more than a cup of coffee in the morning! Well it may be true but I dont think Id be able to give up my morning cup of coffee for anything. Ive been having coffee in the morning for God knows how many years. Would you consider eating an apple instead of having a cup of coffee?

Thats good. I love apples but I cant give my coffee up for it. I dont mind having an apple later on in the day but not instead of coffee first thing in the morning.

I think I would have to do BOTH. If I do not have caffeine soon after getting up, then caffeine withdrawal gives me a monster migraine by early afternoon. Sometimes I do eat a piece of fruit (usually bananas) in the morning with my coffee, so I could just as easily switch off to apples. I also like the idea of the warmth from the coffee, especially in the winter time. An apple isn't going to warm me up!

Thats for sure. I think I dedicate atleast 10 minutes in the morning to enjoying my cup of coffee, me and a nice cup of hot coffee. I rush through everything else but even if Im late for work I dont rush through my cup of coffee. And nothing can beat a warm cup of coffee in the winter.

I'm not a coffee drinker so it wouldn't be an issue with me. My daughter LOVES apples and just about every day gets one from the cafeteria at school and will often eat one in the morning too. But she has hers along with coffee in the morning! LOL

Wow she must be really fresh in the mornings then. I wish I could give up the coffee for an apple but I recently just quit smoking also. This is my last vice. I just dont want to give it up and cross over to the land of the healthy.

I've also heard this. I have tried it and I don't know. What I do know is that not drinking coffee constantly like I used to has eliminated some shakiness in my hands which I used to experience. In addition to the apple idea, I've also heard of drinking water instead of coffee as it is supposed to make you more alert than coffee. I don't know about htat either.

I read this discussion and immediately went to the refrigerator and got an apple. I guess the suggestion of an apple just sounded really good. So I'm eating one right now, as I type. Would I consider an apple instead of coffee? Yes, I would. It's not healthy to frequently use caffeine as a means of gaining energy. It's much more effective to get energy from a proper amount of sleep and proper nutrition. An apple provides your body with energy because of the natural sugars in it, which your body uses as fuel. It also counts as a serving of fruit, and has nutrients and fiber which are good for your body. Plus, it tastes good.

Apple - A red delicious apple
I am not a coffee drinker, but I am a big diet coke fan. I don't think I would want to chomp an apple the first thing in the morning. Actually I seldom eat an apple at any time of the day. I do not like fruit a lot and an apple tends to just work my jaws way to much. LOL

yes i'd rather eat apple or banana then a glass of milk than with coffee in the morning 'coz my heart will palpitate so fast everytime i can drinnk something with caffeeine and that makes my whole day worst at all . i feel sick with that and rather go to sleep and relax to get rid of my palpitation and muscle pain too . better hot chocolate and fresh milk than a cup of coffee !

Well, I don't drink coffee every single morning, but I do like coffee alot. There is no way I could replace it. There is a difference between the strong bitter warm sensation of coffee and the sweet chewing sensation of eating an apple. :)

If that's true then it's indeed good news because the caffeine harms us if taken for a long period of time.On the other hand, apples are very healthy for our body and if they can be a substitute for coffee, then I would happily make the switch. But there are times when I want to feel alert and coffee has been a great help. So,I might cut down on my coffee intake , but I won't give it up completely.

I certainly can't compare having a cup of coffee for an apple. It's my morning routine to take coffee, it is my energizer. I don't know if I can but I'll try it some time.
