Are you going to pre-order book 7?

I've pre-ordered every Harry Potter book since book 3. When I pre-ordered it the first time from Amazon, my book did not arrive until the day after they came out. After that, I've been going to the book store to get my books. However, the last few times I have no pre-ordered my book because they always have more than enough copies and it's sometimes faster to just grab the book and pay for it, rather than wait for them to look up your name and such.
So, do you always pre-order your books? If so, why? And what has your experience been like in getting your Harry Potter books as they come out?

I haven't entirely decided yet but I probably will. I've preordered the last two books so it only makes sense that I preorder this one as well. Since this is the last book I was thinking about preordering and going to the bookstore at midnight to get it. I haven't decided on that yet though.

I pre-ordered my book through Amazon this time (like I did for book 6 too). When book 6 was released, I got my book on time without troubles, no need to stand in long lines, and I love that Amazon.com will guarantee that if the price drops between when you place your order and the book ships, they will honor the lower price and give you the discount.

Oh, this is really helpful to know! Maybe Amazon would be the best bet for me. I will check out the price at my local bookstore too. I like supporting independently owned shops.

I usually pre-order the Potter books but not this time. I saw the price of it on Amazon the other day. boy, this one is spendy. I shall wait till it goes on sale. I do want to get it, I just can't afford it yet.

Good point. Amazon has it for $18.89 but the retail price is $34.99?! Whoa, this book had better be a thick one because that is insane. I realize that this is the last book and everything, but it almost makes me feel like they are taking advantage a little bit.

I pre-order my book and so far there was no problem getting it. It is really a thrill while taking the book from the shop and going through the pages fast is maddening experience.

I know what you mean. I am one of those people who needs to start reading it as soon as I get my hands on it. I read the last book in less than 48 hours. It was crazy. There was even a time when I waited on line at a local store at midnight to get one. I learned my lesson that time because the people where so rude and I was too tired to read the book when I got home with it. I think I might just pre-order from my local shop (because I like to support local shops and they don't order that many copies) and get it that morning. Also, perhaps I will read this one a little slower so that I enjoy it more.

yes, but not from Amazon or online. i am going to pre-order it from Barnes and Noble. i think im going to do the thing i did when the 6th book came out. Barnes and Noble had a little party thing in celebration of the book coming out. it was pretty cool. (especially those who decided to dress in character.) they had activities and food and it went on until like 1 am. then we got the book and went to a hotel room across the way. awesomeness!

Nope. I just buy the books directly from the bookstores when they come out and if they run out of copies I just wait for them to re-stock. The story won't change anyway if I read it a few days or a few weeks later. I just reread the previous books until I can buy or borrow the latest HP book. I am eagerly waiting for the last book to hit the bookstores...

I pre-ordered the last Harry Potter book here in the office (they offered pre-ordering to HP addicts!) and I'm still thinking about getting it for book 7. But I still don't have all the books because i just borrowed the others and I'm thinking of getting the complete 7 bookset when it comes out. I'm still comtemplating over which choice to make.

I don't pre-order Harry Potter books. I am a fan of the Harry Potter books but to tell you honestly, I just wait for the books to arrive although there's a big chance that they might run out of stocks and I'd have to wait longer for them to arrive again. But I'm not really in a rush to read them because I can still wait.
On the otherhand, if you want a first-hand read on the upcoming books it would be better to pre-order the books. With that, you get your copy of the book when the book is released in your place and you get yourself busy right then and there reading the book and finishing ahead of the others who just got the book when you've already finished it.

I didn't get into the Harry Potter craze until the first movie was about to come out. And then I read all four books before I would see the movie. My fiance's sister had bought them for her son, but he didn't like them. She gave the books to me and I read them all in a week. Since then I have pre-ordered books 5-7. I preorder because I want to make sure I get a copy as I'm anxious to read it the moment it's released. I also pre-order because Border's gives a 40% discount when you preorder.

I have never pre-ordered the book. Because of the financials i have never been into buying the books. I make a point to visit and be the first one to make my name on the top of list of renters at a local library. Anyway since i read a lot of books i buy them very few and instead use the amount to rent the books. Helps a lot to keep in touch with many books.

I have never pre-ordered. I just prefer to go get it at the store. However, I don't usually get it at bookstore. It seems like the bookstores sell out really fast but people seem to forget about other stores. I acutall get most of mine at the grocery store. The price is usually cheaper than at the bookstores too. I will do the same thing with number 7.
