when i was young we were not encouraged to buy books as they become difficult to manage when u have a large collection. we were used to getting them issued from libraries. adn that had its own charm. now however i prefer to buy books as i have become more selective of the books i read and i cant make time to go to a library... what do u prefer, yourt own copy or libraries?

Ceertain books I must own , Alot i get from the library! I own about 3000 books but, that is actually a limited collection! I got rid of alot of book a ton! I guess it just depends on if you move alot. We are getting ready to move in about 6 months and if we do I have to pack all of those books in small boxes! Alot of small boxes! So Yes thats a little much to handle!

Back in school and high school we had to purchase books. There was no option for us to not purchase our school books and borrow it from the libraries instead. So I have a large collection of books and it's really hard to manage them. Now in my bachelor levels I do not purchase books at all. When I need them I burrow from the library and it's saves my money as well. So I prefer to borrow books from the library.

I like both of them, depend on situation. I like buy books because I can collect them and I like to read them again. Sometimes, I can take more benefit from a book if I red it again. But, if I don't have enough money, I prefer to borrow from library, of course.

i'm a person who likes reading books and i prefer to buy books for myself. i don't like the fact of having to borrow books from the library.
plus, when you buy your own book, you can get to keep it and then probably start your own collection.. at least that's what i'm doing. i have already collected a few myself, from nonfiction to fiction.

I love using the library, though I wish I could stick to a schedule (weekly) of returning books and looking for more. There's something that feels good about walking out with an armload of books, not spending a cent, and knowing when those are read, there is a whole building full of books waiting to be read. I do buy books, but I don't get the same sort of satisfaction. I also love to borrow/trade books with family and friends, especially since so many of us share the same likes.

I always buy books, never have time to go to the library anymore, though I would like too. I prefer buying as well, because I'm scared that I will forget to give back to the library. If/when I buy the book, I don't have to give it back, anymore. After all it's mine.

I tend to buy books as in my experience the library is always in short supply of recent books. I think it is either because they are out of date and don't get new stuff very often or that people are always borrowing the good ones.

I usually don't read many books.
In the bast I usually went to the library and borrow some, but now that I have the internet I don't spend much time reading. The cheapest way is just to borrow them. After you reed the book it just don't serve you for nothing.

I usually go to the library for reference but for books that I want to keep, I always buy them. Books are timeless and they never fail to cheer me up when I'm down. I keep them because I don't want to march down to the library to have a copy. Managing books can be a little difficult and messy at times. My advice is collect only those that you are absolutely crazy about. Then stack them neatly in a bookshelf.

from the library. im not a huge book lover and i dont go nuts over them and go buy books allthe time, so if i were to get a book it would be free fromthe library. im not saying books arent any good bc they are, and i have liked a few before, that just my opinion.

Well, there are some books you need of your own, notably a dictionary.
There are some books you'll want to read and reread
There are some books that your library won't have or get
There are some books you don't want the woman behind the counter to know you read - especially since in the US the government can get to know what you're reading thanks to the Patriot Act.
There are some books you may want to write in
There are some books that are so damn cheap, it's even cheaper than a trip to the library (hell the bus fare is about 4$ where I live)
There are some books you'll love so much you won't want to give them back
BUT for the rest of the books of the world, go to the library and suck it dry.

When i was studying in college then, i prefer to buy important books so i would have a flexible time when to use them without the hassles of overdue charges. I will just borrow other reference books from the school library. The time i was already working, i normally buy some books that i would really like to read but sometimes i also search & download it from the internet especially the free ones.

A few years ago, I definitely preferred borrowing books from the library. I would read them so quickly that it didn't make sense for me to spend large amounts of money each month when I could borrow them for free. Now that I am older and I have a family, and thus more demands on my free time, I prefer to buy books so that I can read them when I have time. I've also just joined an online book swap. It's a great way to get rid of the books I'm done with and get new ones.

I normally buy only rare books or books which i like very-2 much otherwise in most of the cases I prefer to borrow them from library and read specially when i m not very sure of how the book is and what is it all about. I prefer not to waste my money and borrow them. Because in most of the case , i dont read a book more than once except a few , so such books, I prefer to borrow from library...
