After watching Tuesday Night's episode of American Idol, I am very excited to see how the rest of the season plays out. The guys performed during this episode and some of them have really stepped it up. I definitely think that Chris Sligh will be in the top 3 without question. He is a phenomenal singer with a great deal of talent. The crazy thing is he just keeps getting better each week. This week he dedicated the song to his wife, and the lyrics contained the phrase "...saved by a woman...".
Another favorite of mine is Phil Stacey. He joined the military after 9/11 to try to make a difference for our nation. You have to commend that. Plus, this guy has real vocal talent. His voice has the perfect tone and the judges are constantly crediting him for that. I think he should and probably will make it pretty far in this competition. But, regardless of how well he does on American Idol, he definitely has a singing career ahead of him.
Blake Lewis went back to his original beat box style this week and Randy and Paula seemed to love it. I thought it was a very good performance as well. Of course, Simon has to always be the antagonist, saying that he copied the original song and lost some tone toward the end.
A. J. Tabaldo surprised me this week with an outstanding performance. He should be around for a while longer. Chris Richardson and Nicholas Pedro had very good performances as well.
One of my favorites from the very early auditions has been Sundance Head. I like his style and his vocal abilities. He has been very disappointing, to say the least, in his last few performances. But, he came back this week! He had a pretty good performance and the judges liked it. But, I still think he can do a lot better. I think he is a dark horse in the competition.
My pick for elimination this week has to be Sanjaya. He followed up a dismal performance from last week with another not so great performance. I really liked him early on, and he seems to be a great person, but he just doesn't seem the same since his sister was sent packing. As far as the other elimination (I think they are still doing 2?), I would have to go with Brandon Rogers. He has great vocal abilities, but his performance this week was not as good as last week, while everyone else was stepping it up.
So, what does everyone else think?

No one has really wowed me yet. Lately on AI, I only seem to like their singing when it's down to the top 12 or 10 and they are getting couched.
I voted for Blake last night, because I really like that song he did and I think he did a great job even though Simon said he was copying. I know that song isn't very modern, but at least it's from the 90s when a lot of people keep doing songs that are way older.
Another guy (can't remember who) sang an alternative song last week which made Simon happy because he at least sung something modern. I'm hoping for more alternative/modern type of music this season!

Thanks for voting for Blake, he's great and a new type of singer to this show. I think the AI needs to be more than just a great singer, they need to bring something original to the table.

I completely agree with you about Phil. I don't know how far he will go in the competition but it doens't matter. He will have a record deal as soon as he is off Idol.
I really like Blake too. I was surprised last week to find out hat he actually has a great voice, and you add that to all his other talent and the fact taht he is unique and I think we have a final 4 singer here.
I never cared for Sundance and I still don't. I don't know what it is but I don't really see anything special in him.
I will be completely shocked is Sanjaya doens't go home Thursday. he has a great voice, but I think he needs more maturity, he needs to losen up, he needs to get more comfortable on stage, and he needs o learn to pick better songs.
As for who is going home with him, I would say it is between Nicholas, Jared and Brandon. I didn't think Nicholas was ll that great. And it really bugged me that he dedicated the song to his girlfriend but never once really looked at her while singing.
I can't wait for the gilrs tonight to see if they can outdo the guys again.
