I am a Canadian and I think it's time to bring all the troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan. The war on terror can never be won because everyone things that the terrorist is the people attacking them. The Iraqi and Afghan people, i am sure, think that we are the terrorist for the way we have blown up their homes and land. Innocent lives are being lost over something that will never be resolved.

answerguy you are exactly right. And you can go back before that, when the US and Britian were supporters of the Hussain reigeme, selling them the dual use weapons and chemicals to fight against the Iranian revolutionaries who wanted to replace their monarchy installed by the US under Eisenhower.
Though over 98% of Iranians agreed with the overthrow of the monarchy, it wasn't very popular with the west, something that Suddam took advantage of and sought to expand Iraq's access to the Persian Gult by aquiring Iranian territory by force. Iran is the worlds second most afflicted coutnry by weapons of mass destruction, with more than 100,000.
Britian and the US have never been concerned with fatalities or injuries. It's all about the money as you said. The US ecconomy would not be able to survive without the trade of fuel, neither would that of other coutnries including ofcourse those in the middle east. But they all want a control on it because if you can control it you know you are safe, and don't have to rely on anyone making big demands, and you can exploit it. That's why it's so necissary to 'bring democracy to the middle east'. A democracy of our own chosing that will accept the low price we offer and not ask for more.

How has the US survived while embargoing Iraq for over the past decade then? If it were all based on oil, that is....

It wasn't about OIL. If this war was about oil, our prices would be lower, we would have more oil. We didn't invade because of oil.
