Me, i dont use tampon coz i'm not comfortabale with it. I usually use pads for heavy days and pantyliners if i dont have period..There is a medical fact, that tampons can cause urinary tract infection..It's that true? What are you usually use, tampons or pads? please share..thanks ;)

I primarily use tampons as I don't like the feeling of wearing a pad. I don't like the constant wetness and I don't like feeling like I am wearing a diaper. I will sometimes wear one at the end of my period when it has gotten too light to bother wearing a tampon.

I agree with you Cherriemae, I don't use tampons, I think it's disgusting, all that just stopped up in there, ewww!!! It is a well known fact women can get tss, which is toxic shock syndrome. That's really dangerous. I really like Stayfree overnight pads cuz they are so thin and long and you feel like your not even wearing a pad. They have a really good scent also!

i dont use tampon too, but tried it before. just not comfortable of inserting it and pulling it out on my body. i just use pads for my monthly and pantyliners also but i always changed it more often to prevent any UTI coz some say its also causes UTI.

Just curious, do you have any side effects from getting this?

I have the depro too and Havent had any side effects. Kinda nice not to have to worry about a period. but when i didnt use the depro i used pads. Just the thought of getting blood on me while putting tampoons in was too much for me. Of course i used the pads with the wings so they didnt bunch up or move around.

I usually use tampons.I can't stand the feeling of pads....even the ones which are supposed to feel dry....leave you feeling wet and sticky.Almost like you are wearing a diaper.I don't know about urinary tract infections....but tampons can cause TSS(Toxic Shock Syndrome). That is really rare and if you use them correctly they are very safe.I do use pads sometimes for my light days....especially at night....because then I wear more loose fitting clothe and I don't get that diaper feeling so much.

I was never one for tampons until i found a brand that came with an applicator which made life so much easier :) They're called Tampax (i think) in case you're interested!
Usually i use tampons but since having my daughter 10 months ago, i really haven't had much of a period at all - i can usually get away with just using a pantyliner. But if it gets heavier i use pads these days.
I don't think you can get a UTI from tampons!
I guess this is another topic where everyone's different with different opinions :)

Personally, I think pads are gross..they're like wearing a diaper and very messy, especially since I have very heavy periods.yuck. I always used to use tampons..they're much cleaner and more comfortable..and if you insert them correctly you shouldnt be able to feel them. I saw some ladies say they hurt or were uncomfortable..They shouldn't hurt, and if they do you may need a different size or learn to put them in right and you should be fine. I don't use either anymore though, I have been using a Diva Cup http://www.divacup.com ..for about over a year now. Someone posted about a Moon cup a little bit back, and that's the same thing as a diva cup. I love it!!! I'd never go back to pads or tampons. You change them so much less often..they're so much cleaner and as long as they're inserted right you don't have accidents like you do sometimes with tampons or pads. plus, they're reusable..you dump the caught blood, wash them out and use them again over and over.. never will you run out of pads and have to go buy some..no need to spend money every month on them..and no gross used pads filling up the landfills. The only down side to a diva cup is you have to be fairly comfortable with your body to use one..you have to stick it up inside and fit it to your body..and you have to pull it out and dump it, and rinse it in the sink which can be a little messy..but not as messy as cleaning up an accident from a pad or tampon. :O))

menstrual cups are actually much cleaner than disposable products.
not messy at all, you just tip it in the toilet.
they're really clean.
and you don't get that stale smell at all.
which you usually get with disposables.
there's no smell at all with a cup as the blood stays pretty fresh.

exactly! they are much cleaner. You do have to be relatively comfortable with your body to use them, because you have to insert them up inside, but taking them out is no big thing, and the dumping them is no big thing..its very clean. Its not any grosser than having to remove a tampon, or taking your gross used pad and having to wrap it up and dispose of it. Your hands touch less blood with a cup than if you have to clean up a big mess if you have a leak all over your clothes using a pad. Well, for me anyway, because I have pretty heavy periods. You don't have to worry about soaking your clothes or cleaning up any mess, and you won't ever have your clothes ruined by blood stains. I know many women who have special period underwear they only wear during their period so they don't ruin all their underwear. You don't have to do that with a cup, because you don't have accidents.

That's interesting. I've never heard about that, but the thought of that grosses me out...I'm sorry, but it's bad enough having to change a pad every few hours, but having to pull something out of me, dumping the caught blood, and rinse it off.. Just.. Gross. And cleaning up an accident from a pad or tampon - all you do is soak the clothing in cold water for a few hours, then wash it in the washing machine..Not nearly as messy as cleaning up what you just described.

i haven't really tried using tampon because i can't find one and because i think i'd feel uncomfortable wearing one. i am used to wearing pads during my period and i think i'll just stay using it. if ever someone would ask me to ry tampons, i'd try it just to satisfy my curiosity on how to use one :)

Somtimes i use tampon and other times i use pads.
Tampoons are much more comfortable then pads, pads always gave me the feeling that i am with a diaper, it is not a good feeling, and i am always remember that i have my period when i use pads.
But lately i have read that tampons can cause alote of demage to the body, so i do use pads, and am still in search for the ones that will give me the most comfortable feeling. if you have any suggestions it will be nice.

I used to wear the pads until I got in college and discovered that I prefer tampons. Pads were just big bulky things. They just felt gross. Tampons for me are more comfortable. Of course my period only lasts two days (no i'm not on any form of BC). So enduring that nasty thing we have to put up with every month is minimal.
