I feel great:-)
After all the time being jobless it is a joy to be back and working again. Ok, so I am very rusty with a lot of things and their routine and systems will take some getting used to, but all in all I have have a pretty good first day.
As I left the office this evening I began to wonder, how do others feel in my situation. Were you nervous when you went back to work? Did you feel you couldn't cope with the technology in the office? How did you feel when you returned to work?

i assume you are 4 days in now, how are you getting on?
I went back to work after being jobless for a year. I was very lucky to get a job where i was because i was being very picky about getting a job to increase the chances of me sticking at it. Local enough for me to get a taxi if im late, above minimum wage, different shifts every week... So when i get anoyed at work i remind myself how lucky i am to have this job.
I wasn't really that scared on my first day, more excited. Just a little nervous about remembering everyones names and not being accidently ignorant or forgetfull.
And yes i agree, its an amaizing feeling finally getting back into work and earning the monies :)

Not doing too badly now, and I am only a ten minute drive away from the office. I'm slowly getting to grips with the routines there, and I just keep telling myself I'm earning money again. :-)

Yeh getting to grips does take time. It took me *5 months* to reach an acceptable speed at work. But 10 months in and even the bosses are REALLY impressed with my performance and my customer skills.
I hope you enjoy your job enough that it doesnt start to stress you out to much :) At least getting there isn't a problem.

Hey - great job! I know the feeling, first day back and 21st century technology stares you in the face and you "gulp". It wont take long to get into the groove though. Keep plugging away and dont be afraid to ask questions or go for help. Nothing is more upsetting to bosses than ton have something messd up because you experimented instead of getting assistance. No one's ever been fired for getting help. You'll do fine! :-D

Congratulations on your new job! You will get back to the old routine in no time. Just keep plugging away at it. You gave me a twinge of fear at the thought that I may be getting a bit rusty too. My hope is that I can find something that will challenge me and not leave me feeling as if I lack knowledge.

It certainly is a challenge and one that can be very daunting. It is very easy for some people to say that technology is easy, they were brought up with it. For someone like me, computers and the like are scary things - lol

It's good to know your first day went so well, and that you're working with nice people. I'll be starting next week on an internship sort of thing, which may or may not lead to something more secure. It seems kind of like the probation period the new employees at universities go through. I am nervous and worried about the technology, but still think celebrations are in order this weekend. Cheers!

It's just the first-day blues you're going through, but don't worry, recycledgoth. You'll get the hang of it soon enough. Anything new is a little off-putting and before you know it you'll get used to the routine and the new technology. Good luck!

I haven't worked for anyone in 5 years. I have been self employed. I think if I had to go back, I would be a little nervous with the new technologies and regulations. I don't know if I would really enjoy it, as I like staying home too much. But, I am happy for you, so congratulations dear. I wish you the very best.

I've been thinking about retiring more sooner than later, but I'm afraid that I would begin to feel like a "useless lump". Its wonderful to have a sense of purpose and a reason to get out of bed in the morning. I'm very happy for you and wish you much success.

Coincidentally I too was jobless for two years. But returning to work was like a fresh air after a period of staleness. However, it was also difficult for me because most of the employees were in their early twenties and I was nearly thirty when I started. But now I've learned to adjust well.

Yes I would be glad to go back to work because at least the bills would be getting paid. I would feel a little nervous going back to work. Yes there is sometime that you have to cope with new technology but i would love getting back ahead. I feel great right now i have been unemployed for 3 to 4 weeks and I am looking and it is hard because no days a lot of places are looking for the strong working people. I will be glad to go back to work and make the hard making money and keeping the bill collector off your back.

Congratulations on completing your first day. I am very happy for you, if not a little envious. I was away from the work force for quite a number of years and after when I started back I was shaking like a leaf. It wasn't so difficult to learn the new technology, a few different switches on the phones and the photo copiers but the person who was showing me the ropes was very kind and patient. However, now that I have once again given up working, I don't know if I would ever have the courage to go through it all again.

To be honest, hun, I didn't think I would ever be able to get another job. The girls I work with are very helpful and friendly, and they are both more than happy to be patient with me until I get to grips with what I'm supposed to be doing. Hey, if I can do it, so can you :-)

It's not easy, at my time of life, to have to learn a whole load of new technology but I am determined to master it. Thanks babes
