When I was younger I worked at IHOP, when they changed the dress code there we switched to a different uniform that required us to wear ties. I tried till I was blue in the face and could never tie my own tie. I had my step-father tie all my ties for me in advance so I could just slip it on and go. My husband has only worn a tie once or twice in his life, and I think that his Dad tied it for him too.

I have 4 sons. They all know how to put a knot in their ties, thanks to hubby. I cannot do it, but feel I could learn if I had to. Hubby, out of laziness, used to do what your granddaughter does, but has finally stopped that and ties his tie whenever he puts it on. What is it about seeing your man all spiffied up makes your heart putter?!

Well Weemam I certainly can't lol. The only knot that I am able to put in a Tie is by taking the Tie and just putting a normal Knot in lol but I don't think that is what you mean. I used to curse my Sons School tie, a Friend of mine knotted it for him and he was not aloud to take it of he had to leave that to me lol in case the knot came out. Well this one Day I went to the Shops and he had come home he was sitting in the Living room in his Tracksuit and still the Tie round his kneck and he was grinning at me, I loved it when my Kids did as they where told. The thing is his Dad could have taken it of but he said to his Dad "Nope only Mum is aloud to take it of" and he is still a Windup Merchant today lol.

You had me mentally tying one after I read your post. Yes, I can still do it to regular ties. My grandfather wore ties everyday and when he was too frail to do it on his own, I would. I can tie it from behind the man's back as well as in front of him.
I can also tie a tuxedo BOW TIE also. Now how many here can say that?

well its just so simple I don't know how to knot a tie. Actually I have a logic behind that and that is I want my wife to knot my tie and insert it in my shirt's collar. It's just a sign of love.

I definitely can. I wore a school uniform for 12 years which included a button through shirt and tie so I had to tie it every morning but did get into trouble if I tied a windsor knot, if anyone doesn't know what that is you wind the tie around twice to make a bigger knot.

This is something I never really learned to do. When we went to a wedding a few months ago my husband was having the hardest time making a decent knot and asked me to help him and I felt a little stupid when I couldn't do it.

I can tie a tie but my hubby cannot. I find that fact funny. I don't know how to tie a bowtie though.

Yes,I can
but I hate wearing ties just when I have to be formal on wear.
It makes me feel angry and get confused, don't know why!

Yep, definitely. I had to wear a tie at school for 6 years (a black and baby-diarrhoea brown striped one at that! How embarrassing...), and despite trying to maintain the same knot for long periods of time, inevitably you'd still have to do it up again occasionally. Actaully, because the girls had to wear the ties every day, and the boys didn't have to wear one at all, unless it was for formal occasions, the girls would have ot tie all the boys' ties on the odd occasion they had to wear one! lol.
I think there are a few different ways to tie the knot... I can do it the easy way! Whatever that's called...

Yes, many guys dont know how to knoy the tie !
But the few who alwayz dress up casual, they may know the every knot of tie to make it more elegant & stylish !
About girls, I guess they might be interested in learning (if they dont already know) to knot the tie, as it wud be best way to get nearer to their man while he's getting dressed up ! ;)

I'm 19 and I can tie a tie without a mirror or anything. Most of the time I tie my tie in the car on the way to work. I've been able to do this for years now. I think I learned how to tie a tie like my freshman year of high school when I was 14.
