I was sad to see Joey Porter go. Even if he did trash talk once in a while, you always knew that he had immense team spirit and could help rally the team in times of trouble. He seems like a player who really cared about his team.
A bad thing for me that he is being signed by Miami is that my boyfriend is a Miami fan--so our football rivalry just got bigger!

I'm a die-hard fan and try not to get to attached to the players but it sure was a shocker for me to learn Joey, of all the players, wasn't coming back. I knew right away he was going to Miami when I learned who the other team was in the running - Cincinatti. Too much bad blood there. He would have had a tough time there, regardless of the money.

I think it was a matter of new coach, new game. I think it's a huge loss for Pittsburgh but I'm sure Tomlin has something up his sleeve to compensate somehow? I sure hope!

The way I see it is-- you had to figure there would be some changes with the new coach- Tomlin... I think the Steelers were thinking lets cut some players that get paid Big $$-- so they can rebuild a bit and not worry about the salary cap.
I personally think it stinks! I really liked Porter-- Sure he said some things in the past-- things that got other team riled up-- But thats why I liked him- That and he was a GREAT player.
Miami picked up a heck of a player in Porter!

I love the Steelers and I love Joey Porter but there was no way the Steelers were going to be able to afford to pay him the type of money he was looking for. Glad to see he got a nice chunk of cash from the Dolphins. He'll be sadly missed around the locker room.

It was necessary for him to keep his career in mind, but Pittsburgh will miss him. It was very mature of him to not trash-talk the team for cutting him.
Also, now I have to buy a new jersey! :(
