Many people have different opinions or customs. When I was young, we kept our German Shephard and Airdale outside all the time in their confy doghouses in our fenced in yard. Only when the temps became too low for the straw in their houses to keep them warm, did my father bring them in to sleep next to the furnace in the basement on old blankets. I had a dachshund/minature collie mix as an adult, but she was very small and stayed mainly indoors with us except when we went to work, we put her in the yard with water and her doghouse. What is your view on this?

We have 2 outside dogs- Bear and Harley. They are allowed to visit inside a couple times a week and the kids play out with them. They are very hairy and shed madly so they just cannot be in all the time. That and Harley likes to lift his leg on the doorjam to the bathroom. (Boy does that get my wife ranting :)

I keep both of my dogs inside the house. Eve if we had our yard fenced in I they would still be inside dogs.

i have a miniature dachshund and a beagle here in our apartment. . we keep them inside our house. . its pathetic for them to be staying outside. . dogs tend to be cuddly when they are always come in contact with people.

I have 5 dogs. They're all pretty much inside/outside dogs. The 4 smallest (longhair chihuahua, 2 pomeranians, and a poodle) have to stay inside at night because of their size, but they love playing ouside so if the weather permits half their day is spent outside. The border collie used to stay outside and would only come inside if it was too cold or raining (she's afraid of rainstorms), but lately she's been coming in to sleep at night.

All my Dogs that I have had and the one I have got now have slept inside the House. I just do not believe in Dogs sleeping outside specially not in the Winter. Why get a Dog if you are going to make it sleep outside and not let it be part of the Family. I am sorry but this is just me so please nobody take offence at this.

since i was young we've always kept our dogs outside. he's a guard dog so if there are any tresspassers he'd be the first one to wake us up with his loud barking and scare those people off. also i have this thing against that dog smell we just can't get off even with dog shampoo and everything. the odor kinda sticks to the couch so that's why we don't keep dogs indoor.

I used to keep my dog indoors when we had him. We let him out into the backyard during the day to exercise and run around for an hour, and I walked him twice a day. Once in the morning, and once at night. Other than that he stayed indoors, unless he whined to go out and do his business. He was a very loyal watchdog and great with my Daughter and Son, but unfortunately when I had my youngest child, he was jealous. Rather than take any chances, we gave him to a friend of ours. He was happy enough there, but not long after, they moved out of the area and we lost touch, so we never got to know how he was.

I keep them inside, outside, wherever they want to be. I feel that they are members of my family and more specifically, my companions. Would you make grandma sleep outside because she has a accident last christmas?!LOL It does make for more cleaning, but I think that they are worth it.

in my opinion dogs are like our family members and we dint keep our family members outside the house.i know by doing this dogs becomes a bit lazy.but it also depends on the purpose of dogs.if your purpose is just to use your dog as a gaurd dog then keep him/her outside.but my purpose is not that,i seriously wanted a companion who can lighten my mood and can paly with me.i love my dog more than myself.

I've done both with my dogs. Mainly because my husband was raised that dogs don't belong in the house and i was raised that they're a member of the family. I have a yellow lab that I had to fight for to be inthe house and my husband now sys he'd miss it if Louie wasn't there.

well.. i have 3 dogs and 2 of them out side and the other one inside. because they are fighting when they are together. anyway... it depends on the enviorment. in cold countries you cant let them freezing. so you have to keep them inside of the house. but in many asian countries you dont get the dogs inside of the house.

I have two dogs. My boxer lives indoors because she's very spoiled and she's still small enough that she doesn't tear everything up. The other dog is a mutt an he's crazy and big and loves tearing things up so he stays outside in the fenced in yard. Every once and a while we let the little one out to play with the crazy one but that's about the only reason she goes out.

My dogs are indoors as much as they want to be and go outside into the garden as they see fit. I try to take them for a good run at least every other day.

Before we got a dog, I said I would have it sleeping outside, and not an 'inside' dog, but we ended up getting a beautiful older Golden retriever, and was told he was an inside dog, he sure is, he sleeps in everyones way, he sheds hair over everything, it even gets stuck on the margarine lid (how can that happen!!) but we wouldnt have it any other way now.

pekingese - cute pekingese
we keep our dog inside the house. He has his own bed and toys. We treat him as our baby. Our yard is fence so he also get the chance to run and do his exercise every now and then especially when my husband and I are outside working in the yard, taking care of our garden and birdies.

we keep our dog inside of our house, since our dogs is small. its to risky to let them stay outside because they might get a lot of deseases when they are outside. It is very advisable to put small dogs inside the house, big dogs should be let outside running and guarding.
