How Safe is Your Neighborhood?

Whether you live in a big city or a small town, how safe is the area where you live? I ask this because I live in a small town and have always felt safe here. You may have read in one of my previous discussions though that not too long ago someone found a hit and run victim dead along the roadside about 30 miles from where I live. Then last week a storeowner was brutally beaten and stabbed multiple times while opening her store in a rural area about 15 miles from my home. From what I heard, someone found her unconscious with the knife still lodged in her head. I want to know, whether you live in a big city or a small town, how safe do you feel the area where you live is.

That's what I always thought, and still do for the most part. It just makes you wonder when you see this kind of thing happening so close by.

You can never be too sure, no matter where you live. Thanks for your response.

We live in a small town. It is a pleasant place to live. Low crime rate. But, that does not mean that violent crimes do not happen. Recently the town was shaken up a bit when a local school teacher was accused of shooting his wife in the back of the head while she slept. That was a bit disturbing. I know the accused having worked with him for a number of years. It just goes to show that you never know.

That's the way I have always felt here. I have always felt that our quiet little town was a pretty safe place to be. YOu're right though, you never know.

I live outside the city in the suburbs. I feel pretty safe in my local neighborhood but not so safe in the city. We had a shooting in the largest mall here last month. Then last week a shooting in a neighborhood south of LSU where I work. This is only 10 minutes away from campus at most. I feel pretty safe at work because our building is close to the Campus Police. However, I don't feel very safe in the city or driving through the city. It seems like any public place is just a time bomb for disaster these days.

I agree that my own neighborhood is a pretty safe place. I also don't worry too much about going into other areas around town. I'm not too sure I would want to work there by myself again like I used to though, especially at one of the stores that is off the beaten path like the one that was robbed.

My area is by no means safe, we have so many people with knives and other kinds of weapons attacking innocent bystanders. I hate my area because everyone is some kind of hoodie thug who loves to attack people and so yea not a nice place.

It's too bad that people have to act that way. I know that I could never live in an area like that.

It is true; there are many places where it is not safe to go out at night, especially by yourself. Taking a taxi is probably much safer for you than walking at night. Many times going out alone at night can especially be dangerous for young women.
