I make stuff i always have. I want to sell it on ebay. I have an account and i have made a few sales here and there. but not the stuff i make. It is a little frustrating. I sold a set of plaques once that i made but mostly i have sold the baby's old toys that she has out grown. I don't want to ( even though i love it ) garage sale and rummage shop for resale items. I want to sell MY stuff.
I got a few books from the library on ebay but the books spent most of the chapters with how to set up an account and then the rest promoting the book itself!
Any help from you ebayers?

I'm certainly glad you posted on this subject. I have learned a lot from the replies!
I do arts and crafts and had not had much luck selling them anywhere! Art is so subjective. It is hard to know what people are going to like and when. What looks "bad" today, may be the "in' thing tomorrow! Keep checking what is selling and compare your work and prices to keep up with what is popular. Good luck! I plan to keep trying and to follow up on the suggestions you got!

That's just it. Art. Sometimes i look at my stuff and think it's not good enough. then some one will see it and say hey you should sell those! (i think yeah why don't you buy it then?) But i have heard this enough to convince me that it is good enough. Then i go on ebay and no offense to some but i know my stuff looks better than some on there THAT SELLS ahgg. Well persistance is my plan.

Keep trying! E-bay is a great place to start! Look at other people's items and see what they are doing differently.
I always look for creative sellers.. Be very descriptive in your listings.. add pics- I wont even look at an item if there isn't a picture. Do exact shipping - Alot of times I won't buy from someone unless it states exact shipping- Some sellers really jack up the prices.
Good luck! and Keep trying!

Yeah i prefer the shipping calculator. I like that i don't have to guess at the cost. At first i would estimate and a couple of times ended up paying for the shipping out of profits.

I only buy clothes on Ebay but have a friend who does pretty good selling things . She buys things on sale or a buisness that is closing out and then resells them back on Ebay , she does pretty good doing this , along with clothes she has that are still in good shape from her chidlren , after they have outgrown something .
Best of luck !!

The best place to learn is eBay itself. It has some tutorials and advice for starting sellers, I've sold some stuff with success on ebay, using just that as a resource. Look up similar items on ebay, to set your starting price by, look at their descriptions, and find ways to make yours stand out. Upload at least one photo. A lot of people only look at buy-it-now auctions, so you might want to try doing it that way. Basically, just look at what everyone else is doing and do it better.

I am in the same boat as you are. I am a new ebayer. I have sold one thing and currently have 3 items on for sale. These were items I had left over from a garage sale. I agree with you, garage sales are great. But there is a lot of work involved in garage sales. I think I can get the hang of this selling process. I, too, make handmade items and am interested in putting these on ebay. I assume it is the same process as the bidding for things, only you should post a 'buy it now' price. Good luck to both of us.

Yes good luck to you. I have heard from other friends persistance is the key. To just keep listing and you will ultimatly start selling.? I don't know i get discouraged at the listing fees and no sales.

I think the best approach is to review similar listings on Ebay see what the prices are, what products are selling. You can then try listing a few of your items. I tried selling some crochet items, but did not have any success. I normally sell household stuff so I understand where you are coming from.
You can also check into selling on Etsy.com. There fees are less than Ebay, and some people do really well.

Why don't you make your own website for free and sell form there?
