Is it ok just to post reponses and not start discussions???

Hi all. Im still a newbie and have notice that the content of the discussions that I start are very personal. I must of thought why not post discussions regarding problems I am having difficulty resolving or understanding. I'm not really getting many responses so am thinking of not starting any as these are the topics preoccupying my thoughts. If I stick mainly to responding to discussions, will this affect my earnings? What balance has worked for you where you respond more than post?

Ive looked at your discussions and they're quite good so dont worry because you're still new. It takes time to get discovered but its really worth the wait. Dont give up so soon. :) Ive been there, but now ive gained some reputation, gained lots of friends and have some good discussions:) just wait and see... As for your questions, there's no harm on just posting and posting rather make a discussion of your own. You will get paid for either one:) Just remember that important thing, post with quality because there's certainly no point posting and posting if you are not contributing something worthwhile for yourself (earnings) and for the whole mylot cmmunity.:)

The earnings computation model of myLot has not been revealed and we only have vague guidelines to rely on. I can't be sure since I've always started discussions regularly - but I would say to be on the safer side, respond more than starting discussions but start at least 1 or 2 daily. As long as you stick to good quality discussions, your earnings should be moving along fine. The more you post (assuming good quality posts), the more you have a chance of earning. If you just push out discussions and make no responses, I would actually guess that this may mark against you. Just what I think.

You do not get paid for starting a discussion - you only get paid when someone respond to it, therefor if u do not post your own and then just post, post and post to others yu should be fine =) I start a few a week and mostly post to other peoples discussions!

Whether you are responding or posting to discussions it shouldnt affect your earnings as long as you remain active. The problem with making alot of posts about personal problems is that alot of people cant relate and dont feel like they have anything valid to add to the discussion and therefore dont.

I hear you as I was thinking this myself as the problem. I guess I was wanting any sort of response to some of my more difficult issues. And if I got enough together I maybe could piece together some good advice lol.

Your reponse is ok. I use to like starting discussions to get feedback on issues I wanted help with. I do enjoy responding to others discussions more I admit. I will still start the odd discussion but not nearly as much as before is all solely because of the topics I was choosing before and the reasons why I was chossing them, ok.

Dont just think of earning of money. Your response to others will bring you other kind of earning like happiness, friendship etc.

i agree. at first i joined because i want to earn money. but right now, looking through the discussions, it really is something to learn from. and most specially you get to meet people from all walks of life. we get to see that we have so much in common with people from different nationalities. something more rewarding than anything monetary. also, i think if you don't think consciously about your earnings and just post freely, that's only when you really earn. both money and knowledge at that.

Yah, I also agree with happylim... although earning still is a part of the reward, you should consider first the response or the ideas you share to others... its like talking to you friends... from sharing different ideas, you got to learn new things.... =)

it is 100% ok to only post response only as i believe it is better to give good quality response than posting low quality discussion.

You should be fine either way. I respond to discussions much more frequently than I start them. It hasn't seemed to hurt my earnings. Try loading pictures when you're able as well. That will also help build your earnings.

i also think responding is better just cuz the other day i responded to like 40 discussions and the next day i started one and got like 107 or so responses and i replyed back to about 50 of them and i got less the day i started and responded back to my own then the day i just responded to others.

Why do you think that? What are your reasons?

hi bigfelah! im also a newbie and havent started any discussions yet. if you ask me, its easier to respond to discussions since you only have to comment and give out your own ideas but it would be more challenging & fun i guess to also start a discussion. that way, you get the upper hand. responses are to your own interest. i would be starting my own discussions soon, would ensure that it would be something interesting that can really catch other mylotters attention, not too broad a topic i guess but something everybody can relate to..hope i could get a few responses..

If it is hard for you to start a discussion then just try to respond to other discussions first. As you go on you can already understand what is mylot all about. Don't worry youstill can earn through responding to discussions.

Its recommended here in myLot that you only not post to discussions but to start your own discussions aswell. Me, i would start around 5 discussions a day (everytime im online) and i get pretty good responses.i guess the secret for you to have more responses is to have your discussion in "open ended form". But i guess it earns me more to post to discussions.

I'm quite new to this, but from what I understand it helps your income to start a few discussions each day. So, you may reply to 30 discussions, but it would not hurt to maybe begin a few on your own. I believe you earn money both ways.

Actually, for me, it depends on the mood I am in, and lately, it looks like we actually make most of our $$ anyways when we respond to someones discussion more than when we start one of our own. But if No one started New discussions on here, then we would have nothing to respond too, and this place would Dry up and be not worth coming here. So I guess it is Balance, and find what works best for you.

I too respond to many more discussions than I actually post. I find mylot more fun to me by reading what others are saying and responding with my own opionions and related stories. I can honestly say that I think I earn more by responding rather than starting a new discussion- I'm not for sure though.. as I don't start alot of new ones. If I have an honest question or have something I think alot of people will find interesting I will start a new discussion. However usually when I think of something great to start someone usually beats me to it : ) So go ahead and respond to discussions! Make sure you respond to only quality discussions that follow mylot rules and be sure your response is quality also. This is where you make the money. Also when your response is voted Best response-- that is extra cash too!

First of all, welcome to mylot Then, there is really nothing wrong with sticking to answering posts and I really shouldn't affect your earnings ... plus it is a great way to start tiying bonds with the others and by adding friends to your lists that is how you can get them to answer your discussions afterwards Good luck to you and if you wish you can start by adding us ;-O)

Hello bigfelah, you shouldn't worry about receiving few responses. Anybody who is just starting goes through the same thing as you including me. It doesn't matter whatever discussion you feel like posting and sharing with other members here. As you move on, you will learn more about what really attract mylotters to respond to your discussion. You can keep responding for as many as you like. There's no limit there. Although, contributing sensible discussions will help boost up your earnings. Don't give up. Wish you all the best.

I think both will impact on your earnings.Nobody has been able to clearly state the formula used by mylot to rate discussions and responses at least i have not seen any.I don't also think anybody knows which pays higher. To be on the safe side start at least a discussion a day and respond to as many as you can. Most of all do get referrals it will help your earnings. You get 25% of your referrals earnings.

hi im new too.. and since mylot did not review how they pay us..i decided to do a little experiment for myself to figure out how things are going on around here. on the first day, i responded to around 10 discussions and my earnings were 9cents. so at first i thought each response earned me 1 cents, but if it is so, it would take me 1000 responses to get to payout, that would take a long time for me to do that as i have other things to do. the next day i tried responding with at least 10 lines. i did 7 responses and got 11cents for it. that's more than 1cent per post. i was really excited. therefore i responded every discussion with long and quality answers and i also rated everyone's response. i did 4 responses on the third day and i earned 11 cents. how cool is that? day 2(7 responses)----11cents day 3(4responses)-----11cents which would you choose??haha... it's all about quality, not quantity you guys. work smart not work hard..hopefully im helpful.
