Have you ever been irresponsible?

I honestly don't have time in my life to be irresponsible. If I choose to do so, things will go downhill. I cannot afford to take the risk of losing things in life by choosing to not do the right things. I am married and I have a 15 year old daughter. I am now working from home on the internet. My husband works outside the home and I have to make sure everything is taken care of daily with the house duties and the bills. If I don't, no one else will or knows how. I have to make sure everything continues to run smoothly or we will lose everything.

Oh my - well looking back on it with the hindsight of age I would say quite often! OK - I never endangered anyone else, like the couple in your story with the young child, but I certainly spent a good few years of my youth as a student, generally drinking too much, "experimenting" with illegal substances, walking home alone late at night in bad areas, going home with inappropriate men............ do I need to go on? Anyway - somehow I survived, and I actually don't regret any of it, because, to me, it was all part of growing up, and learning about life, and about me, and I'm glad that I can sit back now as a responsible 40-something, and say "been there, sone that, and got the T-shirt!".

so far, i don't think i ever done something that is really really irresponsible that can ruin my life... i always make sure i didn't do that because i want my life to be smooth and orderly which i am grateful that it is until now... i always pray to God that if i start to walk in the wrong direction or do something stupid, please remind me and call me back... may be the most irresponsible thing i had ever done is skipping classes in uni... but that is only very little and i feel very very guilty whenever i done that...

I am not the type of person to act recklessly even once. It's just not in my nature. I was appalled by your story of those parents with the 5 yr old. One thing, if at no othe time, once you become a parent, you have responsibility and behavoous like that is unacceptable. If you want to be reckless and stupid - then don't have kids!

OMG thas absolutely INSANE!! I hope they were charged with at least public intoxication and endangering the welfare of a child!! Some ppl are just so in need of a beating!! I think the most irresponisble thing I have ever done along those lines anyway is when I was too busy on a bender (getting high) and forgot my kids at school...luckily my brother picked them up but wow did I ever feel like an a$$ adn so damn horrible!! You're right too, sooner or later ESPECIALLY when you have kids you have to grow up! It was a struggle for me without a doubt when it came to getting clean but i did it!

Yeah, I want on an irresponsibility binge after my first husband left me. I started partying, drinking, smoking pot, sleeping around. Hah! Then I got pregnant. Imagine that! Once a mother, all that crap stopped and I became responsible. My husband is bugged because I don't do the things I used to do anymore (as listed above). He just doesn't get it that now that I am a parent (and have been for almost 14 years) I have to be responsible. He would still rather be out partying. Do boys ever grow up?

As far as drinking goes, I've never been a responsible drinker! Far from it, till recently, I used to get blackouts whenever I slightly exceeded my normal consumption of 260 ml.! I've been mugged several times and my money stolen, so much so that I have practically become a sober drinker in the sense that I now no longer exceed 180 ml. Another change in my recent drinking is that I no longer look for company. I tend to keep to myself, remiding myself again and again, my responsibilities ('...and miles to go before I sleep!....). This is working better because I am an uncontrollable talker(not blabber) when drunk. However, the better side is singing songs. If I meet guys with the same taste for songs, I get a kick out of it, but end up drinking excessively. So I have discovered that my present attitude towards drink is a change for the beter. Regarding the story you narrated, it must have been a hell of a joke to have made the couple forget where they were!

i have been irresponsible before, well actually a few times, and sometime of those times i actually regret. mainly the things i went behind my parents back and did, and they dont know, but not much i can do now, except live with it.

for liitle thing i may be careless but not irresponsible. It is our right to be responsible.

The term "the carelessness of youth" cmes to mind here. I have to admit to doing something totally irresponsible in the past, and it's not something I'm particularly proud of. I went on an 18:30 holiday many years ago with a group of friends and on the second or third day into our holiday we all went out for an evening and got totally incapable drunk. the hotel we were staying at had a lovely pool and about 10 feet above the pool was a balcony/sun terrace. After getting completely drunk we all staggered back to the hotel when I thought it would be a brilliant idea to try to jump from the balcony into the pool. It was more by luck than judgment that I didn't kill myself, I jumped and landed in the pool, however I was so drunk that I had to struggle to get out again. It was a totally stupid and irresponsible thing to do and I bitterly regret doing it, and I have never allowed myself to get that drunk and incapable again.

Uh..a litle yeah. But I'm pretty tresponsible -- much to my own changrin sometimes. Most of the time my occasional carelessness is due to how I often wear myself out trying to take care of everything else. Tired brain = not thinking = things I should've done better or decided better. Jeez, I nheard about that. It's one thing to toss wild parties while you have children..at least THEN they're home.

I find myself very irresponsible sometimes. But I got irresponsible on some trivial things.The story you just shared is kinda eerie. I don't think I would be as irresponsible as what that parents did.

Yeah. we people got to be irresponsible in many ways. As a student i always fail to be responsible. You know, to do many homeworks and stuffs. I always cram and sometimes i cheat. In our class, most of us cheats! lol. its the trend now huh.. haha! but even though i have times to be irresponsible, i never forget my responsibility as a child to my parents. i really obey them and respect their decisions for me.

oh well...many many times...like having failed grades in school, not passing my projects and assignments, etc.

I can't think of one to tell you that wouldn't take me an hour to type, but I know that I've done some pretty stupid things in my life....mostly when I was younger...my life is pretty boring now...and I'm only 29! Five kids can REALLY drain you...I need sleep!! Although I'm about ready to keel over...I know I used to do some pretty stupid things! Probably not that bad...but something...

Did the policeman wait to make sure the kid was fine before leaving the kid with his drunk parents? I hope so.

WOW this is really not good. because the parents will leave a bad memory in the kids' mind.... hope the kids will be fine. I acted most irresponsible is when I ran away when i was a kid after i broke someone's window glass which is accident!! but in the end i got caught .

I sure have been irresponsible a few times in my life, but not after I got married and got my kids. That story really does take the cake though. I wonder what they thought after they sobered up:)

LOL. I went out drinking with my sister and we got hammered! I have no recollection of how we got home, but apparently, we got into a taxi with a couple of guys and I fell asleep in the lap of one of them right before I threw up all over him LOL. Needless to say, I felt terrible the next day when she told me they'd gotten charged $20 for the cost of cleaning the cab. I was very surprised to get a phone call from him the next week asking if I wanted to go out for dinner with him. I don't even recall giving him my number.

Hm. I'm not quite sure. Probably when two of my cousins and I (we were much younger when this happened) decided to wander. I was over my cousins' house, Rachel and Alan, and Rachel suggested we walked through a path which she had heard scary rumors about. She demanded she walked inbetween Alan and I, and I went ahead and they followed me. Of course, we had no idea where the hell we were. We were like, 12, wandering through this hugeee forest while it grew dark. So for at least an hour, we were stumbling around in thorns, puddles, small streams, sharp rocks and giant plants. We ended up getting out of that hellhole right by the main road which connected to the highway.. It took us about a half an hour to get back to the house from there, covered in dirt and water in the freezing cold. Stupid, but it was worth it. :)
