Do you like to go to the fair?

I'm talking about the state fairs that come every year. Ours comes in september, so I'm not sure why I thought of it now. There are all of the exhibits of animals to look at. There are all of the exhibits of new ideas and products to try. There are all of the exciting rides to spend money on! LOL. You can get your face painted or make a funky piece of artwork to take home. You can toss hoops and win a gold fish. It is fun to watch the people. But what I loved the most about the fair, was going to get the corn dogs! and the corn on the cob! That was the best thing. Nowadays, I understand you can get almost anything to eat at the fair such as turkey legs or fried bananas and it is all REALLY EXPENSIVE! LOL Anybody else like going to the fair?

You know, sad to say, I have lived in Kentucky for 13 years now and have never gone to the state fair. I should make that a goal for this year. My teen children would probably love it! It would be a 4 hour drive, but that wouldn't be too bad. We have a local street fair that is nationally known, and we enjoy that a great deal, so I'm sure we'd have a ball! Thanks for a great idea!

I never thought about you having to travel just to get to one. Ours comes to our city, so I guess I took it for granted that everyone had access to one.

I used to love going to them with my parents when I was a child. There are no good fairs here anymore and the few that come here are inclined to be frequented by very rough people. It is such a pity, as I loved them and I would have liked to take my grandchildren to them.

Its not that of an interesting experience now adays. Because, most who attend such fairs behave very badly and disturb the others as well. So for a long time i have never been to a fair. But exhibitions, I like and if time permits I go. We can get things at bargained prices as well.

I haven't been to a state fair in many years. The last one I attended had an outbreak of ecoli and many people became ill from this. Fortunately for me I had nothing to eat or drink when I was there. I did enjoy the displays and the animals. Hubby wasn't too thrilled about it. He wanted to go on the rides, but the heat of the day and my fear of heights kept me off the rides. Maybe we will give it another try, we have grandkids now and they would love to go. It is so much more fun when you bring kids to these events.

I LOVED going to the local fair every year when it came to town. I also enjoyed going when my son was small. I went last year as an adult with no children and it just was not as exciting as when I was younger. It was expensive and the quality was much less than many years ago. We now have a market street festival which is much better than the fair, so I go there instead.

I used to love going to the State Fair, as well the Fireman's Field days and county fairs. What fun! But, I have not been since we left upstate NY! I miss those good times too. I used to like to eat funnel cakes, fried clam strips, and salt potatoes :) I loved also going to the dairy exhibits where you always got free samples and promotional hats, pens, etc. Now I think I will have to watch Meet Me In Saint Louis! with Judy Garland. meet me at the fair....ahhh.

Every August there is a town fair, and we try to go every year. See just over 11yrs ago I was at the fair and I was 9months pregnant. Ay fiance at the time and I took his niece to the fair and was walking around all night. The next day I went into labor and had a beautifull baby boy. So now because ofthe fair I went into labor so I make it a point to try to go to the fair every year to celebrate the birth of my first baby. My son is now 11 and very healthy and he is my only sone I have. I also have 3 girls. They all love celebrating his birthday at the fair.

Roses - roses for you on mother's day.
My dad used to take us to the county fair, it was so big, lots of exhibits. We enjoyed it. Fairs always bring back fond memories of him.

the fair comes to us at easter but I don't think it will be as big as the fairs you get which sound quite large. we usually have a few rides for adults and children and candyfloss and burgers. my children always loved to go as I did as a child. the fair is not far from where i live it is held in the park. when i ws little it was held in the town centre and as i lived in the centre of town it was just across from where we lived.

I enjoy going to our state fair. Mostly looking at exhibits and animals. The local 4H club offers grilled corn on the cob that is wonderful.

Yes friend. I like it very much to visit fairs. Mostly I visit handicrafts fair, cottage industry fair, technology fair and book fair. In a year I usually visit a dozen of such fairs in different places those I travel for my work. Purchase of chosen products is also done by me and my better-half during visits. Food items are of special attraction here in fairs, though a little bit costly but managable. On many fairs I find stalls of very specific and useful items those one cann't find so easily outside market always. This is a special plus point for me that attracts me to visit fairs always! Thanking you.

I have been to a few of our state fairs but not all of them and have not been to one recently. It does have some very nice activities and foods to eat but I prefer going to an amusement park or the ice cream festival or other festivals held here. I do not think our state fair is as popular as the various types of festivals we have throughout our state.

Entrance to Skowhegan State Fair, Maine - image of one of the entrances of the Skowhegan State Fair in Skowhegan, Maine, held every year in August.
When I was a kid we used to go to the Skowhegan State Fair...I believe it was in July butnot sure. The reason why I think it was August was that on the last night Miss Maine was chosen. There were agricultural (4H especially)exhibits. Your description brought back lots of happy memories...we were always good kids up until fair time just to make sure we weren't grounded....which actually happened one year for me. The food (hot dogs and corn dogs, cotton candy, candied apples) were the greatest. The dogs were .10cents loaded....imagine!

I usually exhibit a few things in our county fair. So, I get "free" tickets. I love the food and all the shows. Sometimes, there's a good horse show going on, too. I don't usually like the rides, though. I like to visit all the exhibits and shows.

I love the fair and theme parks. When I was younger all the dangerous rides attracted me and I could not get enough of them. Now that I am older (50) I am not as adventurous, but still love to go.

I live in Maryland and we have a huge state fair. There are millions of people that come from miles around to go to this fair. they have animal shows and actions. You can see prize winning gardens and vergies. There are so many people that you can barely move. The cost of the games at the fail are very high. The people are not very friendly. Even the animals don't seem happy. I think that our fair is so big that no one really enjoys themselves. I think these fair should be about fun not money. I think that all these big state fairs care about is money.
