well after all the times last week when my computer got infected with spyware, i decided to make some changes, ofcourse i've always had antivirus, firewalls, and all that stuff, but it just didn't seem to be working, i read somewhere that firefox is more secure and internet explore is more vulnerable to spyware or adware, well i must say i just finished installing and i like it already, it's user friendly which was one of my fears, i can have different tabs in the same window, without having an extra toolbar, and it's pretty convenient, and might i say, i feel it's faster than IE, the mylot pages are loading much faster than they do in IE.
so can anyone else add to this?
what are the other advantages or features i could use?
is firefox the best web browser or what?

I avoided Firefox for a long time thinking it would be the Linux of web browsers (user-unfriendly, ugly, difficult to learn, incompatible with most pages, etc.) I was pleasantly surprised to see how wrong I was. I quickly began liking it much better than IE. Tabbed browsing was great, even though I've heard Opera came up with that first. I really don't think it is as immune to spyware as some people claim, but you'll never be 100% safe anyway. The new spell check feature in 2.0 is nice, but a little annoying since their dictionary is incomplete and occasionally tries to correct words I know are spelled correctly. Still, it's a new feature that will eventually be perfected.
I almost never use IE anymore. IE 7 is even worse than IE 6 so I never updated mine, or my wife's computers. The only time I use IE is when I'm working with a web page which is not compatible with Firefox. Fortunately, those web pages are very rare (only two that I have to deal with).

ok, you're the first person who's not supported IE 7, i mean my bro-in-law keeps claiming it has the same features as firefox and it looks real cool and everything and ever since i got firefox, we've been debating and marketing our own browsers to each other, haha.

IE 7 has a few features that they stole from Firefox like tabbed browsing. It sucks though because they removed the menu bar, which you can bring back, and they removed several buttons like the refresh button and there is no way to bring them back.

With Firefox, you can customize it. You can install add-ons that could help you in your browsing, you can add skins, it has a restore function. Restore function means when you didn't close your Firefox before you shutdown your computer. The next time you login and open your Firefox, it would ask you if you would like to restore your previous sessions. The only thing I don't like with Firefox, sometimes I couldn't Flash objects or sometimes the Flash object don't work.

yeah, i just installed the theme 'pimpzilla' it's real cool, and i so like the feature where firefox can restore all of your windows, cuz that way i don't have to open each and every window again, if the system shuts down, and hey, when i came across a side that required flash, firefox prompted me to install flash and did it all by itself, so i haven't had that problem yet.

I am glad you downloaded Firefox. I am a big fan and I've never looked back after switching from IE.
Do check out the extensions - https://addons.mozilla.org - if you don't make use of extensions, then you are not making use of Firefox right. :P
Feel free to drop me a private message if you need any help with Firefox. ;-)

i think i might also be a fan shortly, it's working great so far, and actually it just installed some add-ons by itself when i visited some sites that needed them, so it's a smart browser, now that's what i'm talking about, i'll message you if there's anything, thanks.

I am also downloaded firefox, because I was having problems with Internet explorer that can not read java, I just get frustrated because the java doesn't work with everything on it and to display some site, like wikipedia.com,friendster.com, then i changed it to modzilla firefox, and now I can use both IE and Modzilla fire fox on it.I had heard that there are advantages to using the firefox, and now i like to use Modzilla fire fox

I use both, as I still have to do online banking via IE as it says that Firefox's security is not good enough...which is odd!
Firefox is brilliant though, and highly recommended.

I have been using Firefox for probably 4 years now and I swear by it. I agree that it loads faster and I love the tabs. I often get made fun of by one of my computer friends who says nobody uses Firefox but I think anyone who has or does would not ever go back to IE. Firefox is truly well built software less buggy and hardly ever crashes. I do not run any anti-virus on my computer at home and I haven't had a virus in over two years. Although one big reason for my lack of virus is the fact that I don't open untrusted email and go to sites that might be risky.

From the positive responses that you get about Firefox, I think I should give it another chance. The only thing I like about it is the speed in loading pages which takes IE forever. Maybe I need to hang around longer to discover its other advantage over Internet Explorer.

I have been with Firefox now for a few months and they are great.
I will not go back to anyone else. I believe from everyone I have talked to and my own experience with them, that they are most likely one of the best out there.
