In Texas, two teen boys have been charged after police watch a tape showing the teens persuading a 2 yr old and 5 yr old to smoke pot. The 2 yr old was given a marijuana cigarette and he held it and inhaled as if he had done it before. The children's mother was sleeping in a back room and has not been charged. What are your thoughts about this incident? What should be done with the teens? Should the mother have to answer to anything? You can read the full story here:

my mom was telling me about this story just yesterday and i have to say i was shocked! i think those teens should get a very very serious jail sentence! i dont know about the mother as its possible she didnt know what was going on, however if she did, i think that her kids should be taken from her and she should sit in jail along side the teens!!

My sister was telling me about this. I would have to hear the whole story before making judgement, but I don't understand how a mom wouldn't know UNLESS this is the first time. My 5 year old tells me everything. I would imagine that he would tell me this. The teens need to be prosecuted for child endangerment, child abuse and having a controlled substance. That is just ridiculous. I have to say that I have smoked pot several times in my life, but this was when I was an adult and old enough to know what I was doing and make my own decision. NOT as a child and I would NEVER think of giving it to a child. How old were these teens? I will have to read the article and find out. Very sad, though

I just saw this story on the news this morning. How horrible!! I can't imagine anyone doing this to children and laughing while doing it. I think those teens should get prosecuted and locked up for this. Counseling them should be a must if they're ever to see the light of day again.) I am hopeful that the mother truly had no clue as to what was going on, but one would think that she would smell the smoke from the pot and have a clue that the teenagers were doing it in her house. (Doesn't that stuff leave a smell that would hang around for hours??) If I heard right, the little children have been taken away from the home. If they took the little ones away one would assume that they are going to prosecute the mother too. So be it...at least they all will understand the seriousness of this and how wrong it is to involve little children.

Yes I've been seeing this on the news. I think that the older teens should be charged as adults and the 14 year old aa a juvenile. I think the mother should also be blamed in this. Even though she may have been unaware. She probably knew they smoked pot around the kids because they were doing it with her right in the other room. She could have walked in at anytime. If it wasn't common occurance they probably wouldn't have done it with the mother there. Just my opinion but it make sense to me that way. I feel bad for the little ones in all this. It's just an outrage that these things go on.

I just saw that on the news this morning. I was absolutely horrified at the video. The two teens should be locked up and the key thrown away. It's hard to lay any charges on the mother....I'm assuming she must have trusted these teens if she was leaving her kids alone with them. Even if she knew they smoked pot who would think that they would be moronic enough to make the kids smoke it too?

Oh, those teens are so bad. The 2 kids are just 2 and 5 years old only! Don't they think that smoking is definitely not good to our health? They just think that smoking is a very cool stuff, and it is very mature to smoke like an adult. They are so childish, and they are not mature. Too bad!

I think that was just too ridiculous. The mother should've monitor what her children was doing in that moment. The two teen boys are now exposed to this, and it's a bad bad thing if next time they could practice that with the younger kids. I think that the mother should've been charged as well, because she did let her teen boys watching that. She should be responsible on what they're doing. If I were the parent of that teen boys I think I would admit the lack of responsibilities to the police.

Yes I seen this on television in Australia today, well the mother should not have been sleeping she should of been looking after her children, and she should of been charged and she is responsible for her children at this age. The teenagers should also be charged for doing this they are old enough to be responsible for their actions.

I was watching that on the news this afternoon, and it just made me so sick and angry. Those teens should have full felony charges brought against them as if they were adults. As for the mother, she should be charged as well. That is child endangerment all the way, and the mother is ultimately responsible for her children and her household. To be very honest, my first thought while watching the news segment was that those babies should be taken out of the household, at least temporarily. It was absolutely ridiculous for that to even take place.

I find it hard to believe that the mother did not know about the pot being smoked in her house or in the presence of her children. These teens ought to have to book thrown at them, and make an example out of them. This is terrible, it's child abuse and neglect. I hope the judge puts these teens in their place, they thought they were being so cute getting these little babies to smoke pot, it's terrible.

Nah, it was not the mother's fault. She was sick with a bad tooth and had taken medication that knocked her out. Her mistake was that she thought she could trust those teens. A lot of kids today are just rotten. It is a darn shame. Those teens should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. An example should be made out of them. Seriously.

Its pretty disgusting that the teens would teach a 2 and 5 year old to smoke pot. Its even worse that it seems as they have done it before.
On a separate note, how the hell does a 2 year old learn how to smoke? Its kind of amazing and shocking.
Anyways, I think the teens should be reprimanded to the full extent. Its so sick, these kids probably got screwed for life, being exposed to pot so young.

im sure this is the big question. where did the teens get the pot from, and why was it in the house in the first place. and even though the mother has not been charged, even when i am sleeping or taking a nap i still know what my child is doing.so i think that mother has explaining to do.

This is terrible. More and more teens are doing things that they just get a slap on the wrist for. If they can perform adult crimes, they should get adult sentences. The mother is not being responsible for her children. She has been around those two teens enough to know what they were like and yet she let them watch the children. She should be charged, too.

I disagree. I think you are judging the mother without knowing what she did and did not know. Kids can be very deceptive. They can act one way around you and act another way behind your back or around their friends. Anybody that has kids or is around kids a lot should know that.

The whole thing just makes me sort of aggravated. I feel bad for those little kids because it seems like they were living in a house where all of the adults sort of just overlooked them or disregarded them. Who left these little boys under the care of these two pot-smoking teenagers, on a regular basis? Apparently the older boys felt comfortable enough about their behavior to do it in the house, while the little kids' mother was in the house still, and to even videotape it! And you can just tell from the way they talk to the little kids, they sort of just see them as less than human. Thats what makes me mad.
