Planning a vacation but job unstable?

Would you plan for a cruise to Aruba (you can pay in installments) in the fall, if you had already seen people laid off at your place of employment this year? This is the position I find myself in, with my friends telling me not to worry about it, whatever happens, happens.

Gaa, no. If I can't afford to pay cash for something (other than a house) I won't buy it. And certainlly if my employment was questionable, I would (1) be saving like mad and (2) be looking for another job. Even the rats jump ship before it sinks.

Thank You!! That's where I am. I know you can't take it with you, but dang, can I at least know where next month's rent is coming from? I'm 32, not 82.

But, put it in the context of just going on a cruise in general; do you side with my friend (don't worry about it, go) or me (can't afford the take that risk, may need the cash if i lose my job).
