I have came to know that China has banned the opening of new internet cafes because of the survey there that revealed many people are addicted to internet and have been found doing internet & playing games in cafes late nights. But the decision will also affect the development there but China is ready to compromise. But I think they should not have banned the starting of new cafes but should have restricted the timings of the cafes & heavy fines should have been imposed on the cafes not following the act. What are your views on this decision of China?

I don't think that people can really get addicted to the internet. I don't know why the government in China believes this it does seem strange to me. Also why not let people choose for themselves what they do with their free time.

The thing is, a lot of students get addicted with online gaming and the internet. and parents should be concerned especially in china where they have the one-child policy. i mean there is no direct relationship. what i mean is, the chinese government is just very cautious in terms of growing population of internet gamers and how much the percentage of this are children and high school students. I've seen it first hand, the internet can be addicting. in terms of students who skip class because they just wanna use the computer, some don't even eat anymore. yes we can not blame these internet cafes and they should not be stopped from operation because business is business. i guess china should look for more ways to control internet gaming.
you have a good point about restricting the time of operation of these cafes. another way would be to not allow internet cafes to open within a certain range from a school. students should not be allowed in internet cafes during school hours. it's so easy to make these rules, problem is implementing them.

I am not big on laws upon the choices of people.. laws against crime, yes, and regulations for companies and towns.. but I don't believe government should be like a boss, or a big brother..
