A friend and I were talking today about wholesome television shows and this one came up. I remember how much I loved The Waltons. I was thinking that I need to check with our local cable company and see if there are any reruns of it on. I truly believe that kids today are missing a lot of values that could be taught if more shows were like these. What do you all think? Goodnight John Boy!!

Yes I remember The Waltons it was a great show. I agree that there are no shows that really teach values and morals to our children these days. Todays shows seem to focus on doing things for yourself and how to fight and be rude. My husband and I discussed what sort of programs we would allow our two year old to watch now and when he gets older and there definately will be no Ninja Turtles or Transformers because they teach children to solve there problems by fighting. Unfortunately that seems to be the main television watching of most kids these days and we wonder why there is more violence in the world!

Good for you and your husband. I wish more parents felt this way. I know it is hard to shield them from violence, but at least the effort must be made and you are doing that. Hang in there.

Hey Carol! Didn't know if anyone has responded yet but we get the Waltons on the Hallmark channel. Talk to you soon. Because of Him, Sandy

I used to want to be a part of the Walton family soooo bad when I was a kid. I loved them. The Grandma and Grandpa were my favorites, because I didn't have grandparents close to me when I grew up. I wanted a big, close-knit family like that. Looking back I also greatly admire their faith. It was such a terrific, uplifting show. Thanks for reminding me about it. "Night Mary Ellen".

Oops. I forgot to add the rest sorry. I also think that society as a whole would be better off if programing like this was standard. I agree our children would be more likely to pick up good standards from family shows like The Waltons and Little House. There is something really missing in today's television market.

I totally agree with you on this. I do believe that the world would be in much better shape if television was better and if mothers were home with their children more. Also, I think kids would not be as spolied as they are now if they seen how hard it was to make a dollar at one time. There are several things that I don't allow my children to watch and I think the people in Hollywood need to realize that they are people that kids look up to and that they should think about the parts that they accept to play instead of thinking how much more money they think they are worth.
