Chips?

Okay I was watching TV a while back tonight & eating Lay's BBQ chips. I happened to realize something I'd never paid attention to. That is the way I eat them. Being a man with a lot of quirks I never know a lot of them till something like boredom strikes me. Well as I realized this quirk I decided to see what kind of responses I get from this discussion. Now the quirk is as follows......
When I eat chips of any type, flavor, or brand I seem to always shake the bag & eat the ones that are curled up bent way out of shape, or doubled up. If their aren't any on top of the bag I shake the bag till I can find some like this. Once I feel I've gotten them all out of the bag I don't eat from that bag anymore. I think the main reason I do this is the fact most the remaining chips are broken into tiny pieces from all the shaking. HAHAHA! What's your quirk about eating chips or any type of food. Your choice here. Let's hear those strange eating habits from all.

LOL! This thread confused me! You see - the chips that you speak of are not called chips here in the UK - "chips" are something completely different to us - slices of fried potato that I believe you would call "fries". So as I started reading this discussion I was thinking, why is this man talking about "flavoured" chips - there is only one flavour, and that is potato - LOL - and they don't have brands you just make them yourself, or buy them in the fish and chip shop!!!! Anyway - I finally saw the error of my ways, and the answer is - no I don't have any quirks eating my "crisps" as we call them here! I just eat them normally out of the bag. But now with chips - that's a different matter............ can't eat them without a good smattering of tomato ketchup:-))

First of all, Bob, I must say THANK YOU for putting me in the mood for chips, as I sit here typing and anticipating the brand new, unopened bag of Lays Kettle-Cooked Mesquite BBQ potato chips sitting in my pantry. I was trying not to snack for the rest of the night, but thanks to you, the chips are now calling my name! LOL But, I digress . . .
Regarding said chips, I eat the smaller pieces first - that way, I rationalize that I am eating smaller pieces allowing me to eat MORE of the smaller pieces. Did that make any sense at all?
When eating a hamburger, I eat all around it. I cover the entire curcumference and work my way toward the middle. Hubby thinks it's the most bizarre thing he's ever seen.
I cut up my spaghetti. I don't roll it around my fork like the Italians do. It makes for too big a bite for me. Small bites, and the food lasts longer.

LOL. that is so funny and MUST be a man thing! I LOVE potato chips and I just eat whichever ones my hand touches. I don't think I have any chip quirks, maybe I should ask someone. I do have some eating quirks about other things I think. I clean a chicken leg until there is pratically NOTHING left. I eat the grisel(sp), all the meat, and get this I will eat the end off the bone and get the marrow out too. I have NO idea why I do this other than the fact when I was little I was always given a chicken leg to suck on while everyone else ate their dinner.

I do this too! When my husband and I are eating chips together he will hand me the curled ones because he knows that I like them. I also eat cereal like chips, no milk, I only like it that way.

Well, I can sort of relate. I love Tostitos with either cream cheese and picante sauce or Velveeta and picante sauce and I go after the large chips to do my dipping because it's easier to get the dip on the chip. And, it's funny, but I actually avoid the curled or doubled ones until I've been through all of the flat large chips. Then, I eat the curled or doubled ones and then I eat the half sized ones. Once those are gone, forget it. You can't get dip on a chip that's about half an inch long and wide.

haha I LOVE this discussion
I have a quirk with any and all snacks and that is that I must eat at least two and always in groups of two. It can not be one and it can not be 3 or 5 etc it has to be TWO..
mints, chocolate, licorice, chips, pickles anything that is not a full out meal I must have 2 of everytime. Even sunflower seeds I grab some count them in my hand or in my mouth and if its an odd number in goes another one if it comes down to one being left it gets thrown away.
I also can NOT eat blue m & m's not sure why but I will not EVER eat them. I know they dont taste different but still no thanks
My son thinks Im CRAZY but thats what makes me different I suppose

WOW. Now thats compulsive if I ever saw it. You're CRAZY!!! Nope I'm just joking. But very happy that you shared this. I count the times I say "what" when people talk to me. Somedays I say what 200 times or more. Thats another compulsive disorder of mine. LOL. Thanks for the great funny revealing response also. I appreciate that you liked this also.

I do not do this any more because it made too many people mad at me, but I use to suck the flavor off potato chips and throw the chip away. I know this is really dumb, but I did not want to get fat. I stopped doing it years ago. Hadn't even thought about it until now.

The only quirk I have with eating chips is that with the Frito Lay corn chips I like to start at one end and munch away like a train till the other end is gone without touching it other than when I take the 1st bite. lol Drives my hubby insane when I do that.

I think this is a good one. I cut my sandwiches with a fork and knife so I don't get messy.. people look at me pretty strangely, so I guess its weird?

I have to be honest bob, I have never noticed how I eat potato chips, but I do tick the hubby off when I eat popcorn. I bite it, and it makes that crunch sound. The hubby ask me if i was born in a barn...lol...coz we usually eat popcorn while watching a movie..and the noise seems to bother him..lol
