Oh my gosh! I just read that Crest Toothpaste and other products we all use can cause cancer. The National Cancer Coalition Prevention says these products are just part of the "Dirty Dozen" that cause cancer. Crest Toothpaste V05 Hair Care Clairol Nice and Easy Hair Coloring Cover Girl Makeup Lysol Disinfectant Has anyone else heard about this? Do you use any of these products? Will you continue to use these products? I will post the other 7 when I find out what they are. If you know please let us all here at MyLots know. Thanks Kowgirl

I am well aware of the dangers in such products. After a great deal of research I was able to find a note worthy company who can provide me with all of my personal & home products. I have recommended this product line to several patients who report improved asthma, allergies and even ADD symptoms. I strongly urge you to find safe, non-toxic alternatives. Feel free to contact me for my personal recommendation.

Sadly, everything these days can cause cancer. Breathing the air or drinking the water can cause cancer. It's sad, and I hate reading stories like that because it just depresses me even more, because what are you going to do? I know a lot of people turn to only organic food and products, but lets be realistic. Fertilizers and all that other garbage leech into the water supply and ground. It's everywhere. You can't get away from it. There's something with fluoride as well, not sure if it causes cancer, but it's a waste product of something else. I remember reading somewhere, the list of stuff they put in shampoos(and everything else for that matter) are toxic. Try doing a search on some of the ingredients on a shampoo bottle and see what they are exactly. It's scary what they use to make common household products out of.

And the FDA allowes this to happen. Maybe we would be safer using what our ansestors used.

There has been a continuous and prolific issuing of lists of cancer causing products for as long as I can remember, and I stopped paying any attention a long time ago. If I take every claim to be a valid one and stop using the products concerned then I would end up with no reason to visit the supermarket since everything would be dangerous. Millions of people have beenusing these products for decades with no apparent ill effect, but suddenly it is a serious health issue. If we accept everything at face value then there should not be anyone around over 50 years old, because they have spent most of their early life living in life threatening conditions.

I hadn't heard about this, but it doesn't surprise me. One could likely take just about any product and take one individual chemical from it and then give lab rats incredibly high doses of that chemical and cause cancer. The amounts used in these type of tests are so high that a human would likely have to brush their teeth continuously around the clock for 52 straight years to get the equivalent dose! For now I'll opt for clean teeth and keep a guarded eye on the research!

Why not just change the toothpaste you use, wouldn't that make better sense. I am doing a comparison on these products with other similar products that do the same thing using different ingredients.

This kind of news pushes the organic products into a multi-billion industry. I know organic products are healthier but you just have to pay more. We were using Crest for quite sometime and am glad just last month, we were switching to another brand. Thanks for sharing this.

Just eat heaps of tomatoes. Lycopene in tomatos helps guard against cancer so plant a big tomato bush and eat em every day :-)

No, i have not heard about it and neither would i be to bothered about it. A lot of such reports have come about, even deodorants, shampoos, pizza's have been blamed in the past but nothing conclusive has emerged about these scientific reports. These reports are just simple press releases or worse sometimes they are just rumors, however they are not an absolute declaration that the product is carcinogenic i.e they are capable of causing cancer. So, i guess we should respond to such reports as just mere observations on part of the researcher's but not the truth. So, you can continue using all the above mentioned products and just follow the correct procedures in using them.

probably another Sodium Lauryl Sulphate rumour. basically its an ingredient used in cosmetics, and is synthesised from plants. there is a very very very tiny chance (theory based) that a particular carcinogenic chemical can contaminate it during production. however levels that could possibly get in are far smaller than in most foods. so the chances are that it's never there at all. and if it was, it would be in too small an amount to be any harm.
