- Crispie MARS BARS
The conventional way to melt chocolate is to put it in a bowl above a pan of warm water but the recipe below suggests using a microwave - not very traditional, but effective!OR YOU CAN DO IT THE USUALL WAY OVER A BOWL OF HOT WATER
Ingredients:
Three 65g (large) Mars bars, chopped up
3 ounces (90g or ¾ stick) margarine
Three to four cups of rice crispies
8 ounces (250g) chocolate
1 ounce (30g or ¼ stick) margarine
Method:
Combine the 3 ounces of margarine and the chopped Mars bar pieces in a microwaveable bowl and melt on a medium heat. Do not overheat. Stir in the rice crispies until they are well covered by the mixture. If the mixture becomes too hard when you stir in the rice crispies, put back in the microvave for a few seconds.
Line a 9" (23cm) square tin with greaseproof paper (vegetable parchment or waxed paper) and spread the mixture evenly into the tin.
Melt the one ounce of margarine and all the chocolate in a microwaveable bowl on a medium heat and spread over the mixture in the tin. Do not overheat the chocolate. If you do, add two or three drops of cooking oil and beat with a spoon until it has smoothed out again.
Allow the mixture and chocolate to cool and cut into square,

You made me laugh my friend, but in a good way, one of your discussions talked about you always thinking about food when you are trying to slim and yet you come up with these mouth-wateringly good recipes and containing chocolate too! You really really are naughty but NICE! Now I've got to raid the fridge for chocolate, I can't cook, so you just tease and tantalize me with these wonderful recipes x

I noticed that too, and it gave me a smile. Mostly because I am trying to lose a few pounds and then weemam smacks me in the face with temptation. You better learn to cook wolfie, lol.

No where near as much fun as a deep fried Mars Bar, tastes delicious and a speciality in some Fish & chip shops in Scotland. You have never lived until you have tried one - because it worth making a visit to Scotland just to try it. Although as you live in Scotland I would hope you have already tried it.

Hi Weemam, thank you for the recipe today but I do not use microwaves that much due to the radiation but I would do it the usual way this sounds really lovely and I look forward to making these little cakes. I think you thought about this one after you felt like some chocolate.

Oh yummy! That sounds so good.
I may have to make these.
I would just like to add for my American friends - Mars Bars are no longer Mars here. They are now Snickers with almonds.

I've never used the microwave to melt chocolate but it does sound quicker. I might try these as easter when the house is full of chocolate. they sound lovely.

Nice recipe, thanks. It took me back, I remember a long time ago, my cousin said you could make rice crispy squares with mars bars instead of marshmellows. Forgot all about those, but you just reminded me how good they were. Now I can try it again haha
