Why people become vegetarian?

Well, I wanted to be a vegeterian because of the cruelty to animals and then when I've think more in depth I've realised that plants also do have life. So what's the point of being a vegeterian? According to me, I think that it will not be cruel if we only eat the fruits from the plants. But how are we going to live with only fruits?? There are also some vegeterians who do not eat meat, but do eat eggs. Is eating eggs not cruel? They are killing chicks before they come to the world.

You are right in thinking that we can't eat no living things or else we wouldn't be able to survive.
My choice of a vegan is what I feel is the closest I can get to living a cruelty free life.
Animals feel pain to a much greater extent than plants. Therefore I feel that by eating only plants I am being as kind as I can possibly be without putting my own health at risk.

Has it been proved that plants do nont feel the pain as an animal? :S According to me they are living creatures like us.. They grow, breath, reproduce etc...

That is a good point. We pretty well have to kill everything we eat.
People will be against eating meat because the animal is a living thing.
Then at Christmas, they will cut down a beautiful fir tree and watch it die over the holidays.
I guess life only counts if you have a brain and a heart.
I'm not really sure what the logic is.

Well, I agree partly with them because the way animals are killed nowadays is not good. They are badly treated. :S
