Do you pray outloud?

I don't know... I feel like I need to pray out loud. Almost as if God won't hear me if I keep it tucked away in my head. Or maybe that I have to speak it to differentiate what I really want to say from all the jumbled thoughts in my head, as if he couldn't decipher the prayer from the junk. I have prayed to myself, when there are others around. But I prefer to let it out. Most of the time, lately, I'm crying also, so it's best to be alone for that anyway. Do you cry when you pray?

God can hear you weather you pray outloud or to yourself. He is always listening.

I agree with you, but praying out loud gives you more authority and power. Keep praying! =)

Yes, I do. Praying out loud while your eyes are open is power praying. It means, you have the authority. You claim what you are praying for. Your prayer is not just communicating with the Lord but it's actually driving out the enemy away. When you pray out loud, the the enemy will flee. It's really powerful.
And yes, I do cry sometimes when I pray. God made me like it because it makes me humble and weak before Him.

With your eyes open, huh? I had also wondered if God prefers you kneeling with head down and eyes closed. My friend said that that's the most humble position. But I also like the authority idea. I REALLY have been praying agianst evil and trying to drive evil away, as it has gotten a STRONG hold in my marriage. I cry when I pray for my husband, I'm so scared for him...

I'm so introverted about certain things and brought up to believe religious things were separate from day to day things, that it was very hard for me to think it was okay to pray outloud. I can do it in the car. Driving to work is a great place to praise God and to thank Him for a new day and for His presence in our lives. I can pray aloud with certain friends...like the community of nuns I have known for the past 16 years. One on one...would be scary, but I tend to be shy. My husband and I never even prayed together...never learned to do that or consider it normal or important...religion was a private matter. Sorry to hear you are crying...but crying out to God is always a good thing. It brings you closer to the one who loves you more than anyone else and the one who can help you get through any problem! There are also times of joy in prayer or worship...when you feel the absolute mercy and love of God which is totally undeserved but given freely and you recognize it and feel total awe in that fact and tears just have to come out as a result. Lots of facets to prayer...

I still have trouble praying without tears. I know God will take care of things, but I still have worry and anxiety. I'm plagued by teh "what-if's" But God's in control, so I pray for strength and for peace. He has given me so much of that, and I pray for patience for the situation to get better.

We need not pray aloud for God to hear our prayers. God even knows what we need even before we ask for them. God knows everything but He wants us to pray to maintain the communication with Him. The Israelites before shouted crying when they pray for the forgiveness of their sins. We should pray sincerely and cry if that's what is necessary.

Yes, ChaJud, I pray out loud. But sometimes I pray softly like when I'm in public or in a library.
I pray out loud so that not only God can hear me, because God knows what I' gonna say before i say it. But so that others can hear me and get in agreement and so my heavenly angels can harken to the voice of the Lord and follow His commands.
If the angels can't hear you they won't know what you are commanding them to do.

Sometimes but only when I am alone. For some reason I don't feel comfortable praying in front of people(it's a self-confidence thing, I feel like they will be critize my words or phrase. Don't know why, just do). Anyways, there have been times when I would pray outloud and be crying. There have also been times when I didn't know what to say and so as the tears would flow I would just pray help me God over and over. As long as it comes from your heart, I don't think the words really matter.

I encourage you to pray out loud. Do not limit God in a box. Do not let your self-confidence hinder you from praying to Him. I was like you before when I was just starting out with my walk with the Lord. But I was encouraged by my brothers and sisters to not be ashamed. People will not care if your grammar is right or wrong. You do not please them, only God alone.

I actually do both. I know he hears me no matter how I pray. But sometimes I just feel the need to say it out loud. I do know what you mean about all the thoughts in your mind but I am sure he will know what the prayer is.

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. I can understand why you cry sometimes when you pray, as I do that too, because our needs can be so great. I like to pray out loud as well, and to sing some choruses first. I find I can pray longer, and am more focused when I pray aloud. I feel like it gives me more authority as well, although I know He hears me whether it's out loud or silently.

I normally pray in a whisper voice because of other people in the house. I do think it is good to pray loud because then you hear it as well and that strenthens your faith as well. i have not cried for a long time now but i think it is because i lack intimace. Thanks for posting this because I know that I need to step up my prayer conversation with God. I miss that close fellowship with God. It is so easy to just slack of, and miss out on so much precious time with God. May God bless you plentifull.

I actually like to pray in my head better. I don't like others to hear my prayers, I like to keep them more personal. I know God will hear me. And to me it doesn't matter if my prayers aren't stated in the most perfect order. God will understand, and he will listen.
When I pray in my head, I think, and my mouth doesn't open, but my tongue still moves in my closed mouth... Hehe. But I think it's quite easy to pray in my head. Everything forms nicely and I can hear it as clearly as if I were praying aloud.
The main reason, though, is that I like to keep my prayers between me and God. They're not anyone else's business. Unless it's a group prayer or something, of course, but usually my prayers are more private.

I agree with you taymouse, about the privacy part. When I said I like to pray aloud (above), I do this when I'm alone at home, so it's me alone with God. I also pray in my head as well quite often. Of course you're right, it's a different thing if I'm praying in a group or aloud at church, so that all can hear it.

All your efforts are worthless you must not pray loudly, no need to make show of your prayer, God is able to do any thing you don't have to say any thing from your mouth, he can listen to your inner side so have Patience ask Help from God only
