Have you ever had it? It is so delicious. Does any one know if it is easy to make at home? Are there other places you can order besides a Mexican restaurant?

Here is a recipe for fried ice cream.... 1 qt. vanilla ice cream 1 cup corn flake crumbs 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. cinnamon Also:Chocolate syrup Whipped cream Maraschino cherries Oil Prepare 5 hours in advance ... Combine crumbs, sugar, and cinnamon in a shallow pan. Let ice cream soften slightly for 5 minutes. Make 6 balls of ice cream, roll in crumb mixture until well coasted, pressing coating into ice cream. Wrap in almiumim foil and freeze for 5 hours. Heat oil to 450 degrees. Unwrap each ball and fry in hot oil VERY BRIEFLY, about 2 seconds. Place in dessert dish, decorate with toppings, whipped cream and a cherry. Serve immediately. Seems impossible but when it is broken down it is really neat and good. Hope this helps you.

My Aunt and Uncle actually own a Mexican resturaunt called "Taco Loco," or crazy taco! They just started making fried ice cream 2 years ago and I've absolutely fallen in love with it. Here's a page from about.com with a few recipes. http://homecooking.about.com/library/archive/bldes31.html (Yuck I had to type that whole url out...)

I've had it many times at a few different Mexican restaurants and it's very good. Here's a healthier and less messy version that isn't deep fried 1/2 cup low fat Vanilla Ice cream 1/3 cup of Corn Flakes 2 Tbsp. trans fat-free margarine Sugar and Cinnamon to taste Paper Cupcake Holders 2 Tbsp. honey 1/8 tsp. cinnamon In medium bowl combine crushed cereal and melted margarine and sugar and cinnamon until blended. Scoop ice cream and roll in corn flakes mixture. Now place ice cream balls in cupcake holders. Place in freezer one hour. When ready to serve, combine honey and cinnamon in small saucepan and heat over low heat until warm. Place ice cream balls in serving dishes, drizzle with warm honey mixture, and serve immediately.

Anne...do you like Mexican food? If so, the next time you hit a good restaurant, eat less and order the fried ice cream. If you don't like it, I'll "eat my hat"..so to speak, at least!
