I am now in my forties and started dance at the age of 3 and continued teaching dance into my thirties. Now that I have given up dance. I am having problems with my feet and legs. Does anyone else have these problems?

I don't personally have problems since I only danced until 6 grade or so, but I know people who do. For example, sister had bad knee problems after all the pounding she did in dance and pom. I've heard that many dancers use their legs sooooo much that they don't even realize it. I think you can help combat the problems if you stay active. Part of the problem with people I know seems to be going from tons of dancing to no activity. So try to keep mildly active, whether it be dancing for fun, or just taking walks, to keep your legs at their best :) Just don't overdo it!

I am still quite young, 25, but I am affraid of getting these problems as I get older. It seems very comman amongst former dancers. But excersise is the one big thing that should be able to help. I think you need to build upp muscles around the knees for example, to hold the body upp. I hope that I will be ok when I am older, because I couldn't bear to give upp dancing proffesionally. I hope you find a way to help you from your aches.
