this season of american idol

No, I don't think this season is as good as past seasons. I have a hard time remembering exactly WHO all is competing this year.

I preferred the previous seasons, and one of the main resons why is that it seemed last season especially, was more diverse. The top 12 had a bunch of people with different styles, and I see this season posing a problem. Because in this top 12 there are people who sing in similar genres, it will split the vote, causing some really great singers to be going home. I am glad Antonella went home, but Sanjaya, while sweet, should have joined her. He is a good singer, but has not performed to the level required, and it would be so sad if he was the first one voted off from the Top 12, because then he'd have just taken someone's spot in the Final 12 and not perform well enough to deserve it. He better perform, or I can see some people resenting him, if they don't already. This season is just really lacking, despite there being many great singers in the Top 12. I don't really find myself excited to watch, because of the lack of diversity. I truly think last season was the best one: people were more diverse, more MEMORABLE, and had some real talent and showmanship. Hopefully this year people can step up their game, because right now, I'm not really "rooting" for anyone, because nobody has really captured my attention in that way.

I agree that this season is not as talented as some of the previous seasons. there are a fwe who are really great but the rest to me are just okay. I am amazed that the crappy voting started so early this year. I mean in the past years the popularity and looks vote didn't really come into play until they already had the top 12. this year, it was a shocker to see Sabrina and Sundance not even make it to the top 12. Sanjaya and Haley should not be there and I am afraid that the same kind of thnking and voting that got them into the top 12 will keep there longer than they should be while voting off those who are more talented. I think that Blake, Melinda and Lakisha are the best and in my mind they should be in the top 3, but I know a lot of people really like the 2 Chris's. The are both good but I don't think as good as the other 3. I think we may have to wait a few weeks before we really start to see some great performances all around.
