I was just thinking about pizza because I read some discussions on here. How do you make a pizza healthier? Do you buy your pizza (such as vegetable, Healthy Choice, Smart Ones) or do you make it with good ingredientes? I know it can be a lot of fat so what do you all do to make pizza healthier for you? Eat only a slice or two? Choose low fat pizza? Make your own low fat pizza? Buy Healthy Choice/Smart Ones Frozen Pizza? I am really curious and thanks for the responses.

I like to use a bit of wholewheat flour in my pizza dough - and top it with fresh vegetables such as spinach, tomato, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, black olives, zucchini, yellow squash... etc.
for a meat topping, chicken br3ast is quite good.
I also will sometimes use goat cheese or reduced fat or no fat mozzerella

Modestah, do you think it's better to make your own dough with wholewheat flour or I've also seen they have pizza crest at the store as well?

Making your own pizzas can be heaps of fun as the possibilities are endless. Sure. many people would argue that a pizza just isn't a pizza unless it's got heaps of meat and mountains of cheese on it but pizzas can also be tasty and healthy. For example, starting off with a pita bread base is better than just the plain fatty premade bases you buy form the supermarket. Then it's up to you what you put on it. You can have chicken which is healthier and less fatty than say ham or pepperoni. You can also have whatever vegetables/salads you like on it such as tomato, eggplant, mushrooms, onion, garlic, artichokes (yum), capsicum etc. Then you could use less cheese and make it low fat cheese. Pizzas don't have to be unhealthy. Whenever I make my own pizzas they've usually got all of the above on them but i make sure it's really tasty by using fresh herbs. I have basil growing in my garden so I use basil and oregano mixed into the pizza sauce that I make.
With all of that said though, I still like to occasionally indulge in a Domino's pizza with loads of cheese and sauce. And I usually don't just eat one or two pieces!

Yes, my mum told me about the pita piza, it´s very yummy. Just buy some pita bread, pizza sauce, and low fat cheese, open up the pita bread put the sauce on it and the cheese and it's very yummy. Plus it has much lower fat that normal pizza, right? :)

it is ok to eat "sinful" foods just as long you don't overdo it. what makes it unhealthy is our way of eating these kind of foods. do you want to taste fatty food , then go ahead just taste it and don't gobble on it.for pizza , you can put in anything you like but don't always eat them everyday or you 'll end up sick and unhealthy in the very near future.you can taste them don't gobble on it.

I love making my own pizza. Here are some ways I make it a little healthier.
I use whole wheat crust. There is a store near me that has whole wheat pizza dough, so I buy nd use that sometimes. Or you could make your own whole wheat dough. It give the pizza a little difference taste and texture, but I think it's still good.
I love cheese, and tend to use a lot of it. to make this portion of the pizza more healthy I buy a skim milk cheese. This melts just as well as full fat versions, and tastes just as good too, but is much better for you.
For toppings I try to stick with veggies, but if I still want pepperoni, I use turkey pepperoni. It has much less fat and still has that spicy taste. I also love roasted garlic, mushrooms, and olives on my pizza....with a dash of red pepper flakes for spice. Pizza can still be really yummy using healthier ingredients.
