Intel desktop motherboard problem.....pls help

I have an Intel desktop motherboard,the model is (D101ggc)
It has an strange problem.It is running very well,but doesn't
shutdown....It just hang with the message(windows is shutting
down' and nothing happens.At last i have to disconnect the power source.I searched for this problem on various forums
..they said it is an Microsoft bug on XP and it is corrected in sp1.But i have the latest with sp2....So why the problem raised.... anyone help....I am in great confusion.

I'm using the same mobo and I'm not having this problem which means that the board may not be the suspect but the OS itself. Try running in safe mode and shut down the PC from there. If it shuts down properly, there are probably some device driver problem or another application that is causing the shutdown problem

It doesn't start in safe mode just hang on safe mode..anyway thanks for relply to all.

I use the same board as you, I did also face this problem but only twice or thrice if I can remember well. I suggest you to give your registry a through cleaning by using any registry cleaner like registry mechanic, it fixed my issue. hope this Information is useful to you.
