Keeping myLot organized or let it go?

Ok, first off I love myLot and am not complaining in any way but I’ve had two rough days in a row. Yesterday I got spammed or something – some jerk went to every one of my discussions and posted a bogus response (copied a portion of each discussion into a ‘response’). I dealt with that – reported him and give him –s for each response. It was time consuming but I was angry.
Well, this morning I woke to find that half of the “best responses” I had awarded over the last few weeks were GONE. This is the second time this has happened and I feel bad having to go back and choose again, trying my best to give BR to the same person I had in the past but I know I missed some…
So this is what I did. I copied all of my discussions (title and brief description) and the id of the person I had awarded best response to and the date I did it. I pasted all of this information onto a spreadsheet. Now I have a list of which member I gave BR to so if they disappear again I can easily re-issue it. I can also sort the spread sheet by discussion title or by member name – this will help so I’m not giving best response to the same person over and over.
What do you think? Was this a good idea? Do you do anything like this? Do you have any tricks to keep track of what you’ve done on myLot? Or, do you just go at it and not pay any attention?

Oh my gosh! What a lot of work! It is admirable of you to do this, and I have gotten mad at some of the copiers and pasters here, but I probably wouldn't have even noticed. I'm so far behind on choosing best responses!

Oh wow faith that is a brilliant idea dear, and I think I"m gonna do just that today. Unfortunately mylot hasn't fixed the BR glitch yet and more BRs are disappearing. I had a couple of my resolved discussions coming back as unresolved too. Luckily I remembered whom I had marked the BR for earlier, so it was easy. But if more come back then it will be a problem. I will follow your tip on the excel sheet.
I'm sorry about what the jerk did, one or two discussions is manageable but not the whole lot which is very annoying and frustrating. A few of his posts have been deleted but not all. I hope mylot looks into this immediately now that we have more members reporting and writing to mylot.

You are very ambitious, but I can see the value in it as the more posts you have and the more discussions you have the harder it becomes to find a discussion you want to keep up with on a daily basis. I am already finding it hard to hunt down a particular discussion when I want to check to see if its been updated. I enjoy following all of them.
I have not however found anything disapearing but I have seen other mylotters post like occurances. Thanks for the suggestion. I guess some time could be devoted to tidying up our mylot.

Wow, that must have taken some time. No wonder you are upset. I read that persons comments. It looked like they went through several pages of your discussions and copied the first couple lines of your post as their comments. Did they think they would not get caught? Or did they just not care??
I have never kept track of who I awared bet desponse to. I hope I never have to. That just would take too much time.

wha-a-at? I am taking time I really don't have to spare to follow discussions here, becaause if I didn't I'd have no meaningful exchange with anyone at all, which is why I joined Mylot. Now I've been learning that so many details are Issues- I don't understand. the only way I can justify the time I spend reading and writing here is that it pays- a laughable amount as i am not astute about links and all that- I try to do the BR on my discussions simply as an acknowledgement to the person who responded that interestingly that they did so. I had no idea it 1) could be removed by an other person and 2) that it mattered beyond a nudge and a wink, kind of thing. Does it? I'm not a Christian but I AM a rational and moral person, and I could never do anything so creepy- I don't like the suggestion made by another that it must have been a non-christian. Godalmighty!

LOL I saw that... and commented about it in another thread started by someone else. I didn't check on the best responses I awarded though, I think and hope they were not affected too. :P
I won't go the extra mile like you.. I would just keep my fingers crossed that it is the last time myLot has such kind of glitches. It must stop one day right?

Yes I think that was a good Idea but I do not understand how your best Responses disappear. I would have thought that this would only happen if they deleted someone
Well I hope you have it sorted now. I am also glad you got this Cheater sorted as I had also reported him on your Discussions.

Yes we all noticed that and the matter was dealt with quite swiftly by myLot staff. Its is nice to know that the mylot community notice these people who are known as cheaters and get rid of them quickly. As for your organised way for the future seems a very good idea.

I had that problem with the bits and pieces guy too I think. Mylot was having troubles yesterday. I was rating responses to my discussions and if I stopped and made a response to one of the discussions when I came back from it saving all of the ratings where gone. I messaged myLot and they said it was fixed. I never had your problem but I like your idea of the spread sheet. I think I should start something like this in case I have a problem like this happen.

Oh faith I am so sorry for all you have went through. Why in the world would anyone do this to you? thats just awful. Its good that you have a backup system..I don't have one so i hope that person whoever they are don't do me that way...I am glad you reported them, hopefully they will kick them off of Mylot...You were very clever to have a system,Im afraid Im not that good with the computer as you,so mine would just be lost.Maybe i have not paid attention, and anyway I don't know how to have a back up system..maybe we have an atheist on here heehee, you know thay are so rebellious toward a christian person..Really i was kidding but after I wrote it maybe i am right...I surely hope you never have a problem like this again, and as you I love mylot too,and yeaterday I got my first deposit into my account, that was so exciting....Cheer up! We will have to pray that sucker out of Mylot!

I had an email about this from mylot the other day ... i believe that when the mylot police delete a comment it resets the discussion so the best response disappears and also the ratings.
Mylot do a great job trying to keep all the conversations "happy" - personally I'd rather re-do my best responses then have the whole conversation deleted because of one person.
I think that the spreadsheet is a great idea - I'll have to set one up for myself. I guess I've never seen a need for it - it's only been in the past few weeks I've noticed that the mylot cheats are breeding

As far as i know mylot admin was deleting abuse posts before without resetting the discussions.. By the great job they did with the site I can tell that they have good programmer/s and can manage to fix this problem and delete abuse without taking away BR, from comments by other members who also contacted mylot; it seems that they are working on this issue and it will be solved soon :)

sasselle thanks for letting me know this about "why" it happens - LOL guess I'm bringing this on myself by reporting offenders on my discussions, oh well, have my new system in place to "re-do" best responses and will continue to report the cheaters...
Agree also I would rather redo BRs than to lose the whole discussion.

Sometimes when there is a glitch, I wait a while and see if it fixes itself (or the little internet fairies fix it, like they glitched it, I guess). I learned this the hard way of course.

I think that it is a brilliant idea and an excellent way to keep track of where you are up to. The problem is that this would be practical if you started out that way and kept the data up to date, but it must have been a formidable task to attempt this after making so many posts.
I shall give this due consideration and may try it, but I have serious reservations about the initial volume of work involved.

So far I have not had the problem that you have had with mylot. I have not lost any best responses that I have given and I give a best response for each of my discussions that I have started. I also have not had a spammer yet. I think what you are doing is commendable and I hope that mylot appreciates your efforts. God bless you!

I've been spending the last couple of hours, reading some of your excellent posts and wonderful responces and it seems your spammer has been dealt with as i could find nothing of the nature you described. Well done.
It seems to be an awful lot of work. Of the ones that have disappeared, can you remember any so you cam PM the BR and see if it still comes up on their list of BRs? Then, you'll know that it's only your info disappearing.

that was the problem, I would have no idea where to start as to "track down" the BRs. I've made it a rule that if I post 2 discussions I have to resolve 2 (just my way of not getting too far behind). It's worked out great but as this guy went back to my beginnings at mylot we're talking 6 weeks ago. I can't remember who I gave best response to yesterday.

I hope that the spammer has been dealt with-you certainly don't need to be bothered with weirdos like that!! I was not aware of a problem with the best responses. You are very dilligent and organized-we should all be that way. That is a great idea using a spreadsheet to keep track of your best responses. I may do that as well if I notice mine have disappeared. Hopefully, the problems will be resolved and you can just concentrate on posting!!

I know what you're talking about, faith I saw all 30 discussions of yours that we're copied and posted. That was really upsetting. I did have those on some of my discussions. Mylot did take the necessary actions right away. But am afraid I can't go through another tricks like what you mentioned. Its not that I don't love mylot. In fact, I'm addicted, hooked. But its too time consuming for me. I have a lot things to do around my house and dealing with various customers. My brain have no more space left for other things...LOL, must be my age or what? :)
