OK. Am pissed off now (with myself), coz I can no longer send even just a single text messages using my mobile phone since I just ran out of prepaid credits...I don't usually check my prepaid credits and I just hate it when I can no longer call or send text messages when I end up with "0" prepaid balance... errrr I have to wait 'till am off here in the office and buy some prepaid cards outside.. *sigh* am not so sure though if in your country, you're using prepaid cards or the postpaid subscription... but what I know from my friend who is now in NY that most people there don't use prepaid cards coz they prefer the postpaid subscription especially because you can get a phone free if you do good with the bills... hmmmm good for them.. :P

Phone services in the US are totally different here in the Philippines. Most of the people here use the prepaid cards because of the unlimited SMS messaging promos by the phone providers. BUt in the US, they mostly use postpaid. I don't even know friends and relatives in the US that use prepaid cards for their mobile phones. Besides, they use postpaid mostly for calls, not really for SMS messaging. When you subscribe to postpaid lines, calls are basically the most widely used. :)

i have two mobile phones. one is prepaid and the other one is postpaid. i still keep the prepaid one because a lot of my friends and schoolmates knew that number... also i want to avail the unlimited texting service of the company. i use my postpaid when i'm out of prepaid loads and if i need to call somebody. it's a good thing to have a postpaid phone because i will no longer worry of running out of credits.

I'm a post paid subscriber, it's way better than using prepaid card.. incase of emergency you won't freak the hell out if you run out of credit :) I bet your from the Philippines? Have a look on Smart Gold plans, they do have great deals. But ask yourself first before getting a plan, how much sms do you consume monthly? how about calls?

MY post paid plan rocks. It's consumable, worth 1,800/month, would u believe I even used my phone for like 3 weeks to connect on the net and yet they didn't make additional charges on that? and it also comes with a great cellphone deal (not free but one of the best phones around now)

I am on a plan also- I'm from NY-- I use Verizon- I've never had a problem with running out of credits- I pay a certain price and get unlimited each month. Can't you switch to a plan instead of using prepay? I used to do prepay a long time ago-- But I had the plan that you could call a number and get more minutes by paying with your credit card- So I was never out of minutes or credits. Good luck with this!

it is more convenient for working people to have postpaid plans for their cellular phones especially when they have to communicate with their clients most of the time. at postpaid plans usually comes out cheaper because of the free number of text messages to be sent and free call time; the higher the plan that you get, the more freebies come with it. when i used to stay miles away from my husband, i prefer using the postpaid subscriptions because i have to call him from time to time and landline to cellphone bill is quite expensive compared to cellphone to cellphone calls. but now that we live in one place, it is more appropriate for me to use prepaid cards. i hardly consume my load these days. so if you really have the requirements and the sense of responsibility in using a postpaid plan, i'd recommend that you go for it :)

I think that my country, Italy, is advanced talking of mobile phones and billing subscriptions. We can choose if buying a prepaid card and then recharge when needed or choose a postpaid subscription. Postpaid is great usually for people who talks more or must use telephone for work. There are many business contracts to spend less money for talking or even talking for free between work's colleagues! Instead private people and many people prefer using prepaid card. We buy a "code" to insert and we gain money on our phone. There are prepaid services that recharge ur phone when needed without buying anything! But you must give to your mobile company your credit card or bank account before! I prefer using a prepaid card because rates are better than those in postapaid subscriptions. I have an auto-recharge rate for my mobile...and I receive money when I am called from friends or people. I auto-recharge my phone even when I receive SMS! Actually I am talking for free ;-) because my girlfriend is always sending me sms and calling me :-) Talking of postpaid subscriptions, yes there is a chance to get a free phone in Italy too, but only if you know you are spending about 20-30 euro per month! If you like to talk or you must talk for your work, you can get the last model of umts phone....maybe with symbian...for free!! Maybe after one year or two you will finish to pay it with your rate...and that phone will be yours.

I would prefer prepaid as if i'd a postpaid I would use it so much so that I wouldn't even have a penny to pay it's bill. Plus i'm not able to save money so it's sort of impossible me to have a postpaid system.

thats is of fine with billing but according to me there are many hidden charges in post paid connection, which u realise once u get the bill, where as in case of prepaid as u told that we have to go out to buy some card if we dont have balance. then dont u think that it will help u in saving ur money, by some un-necessory call which u would have done in postpaid. i always prefer prepaid

I'm on a prepaid card right now. Yes, I do feel how you feel when you just ran out of credit and you have something really important to send or call to make. I was once on a postpaid plan and it was like..... uhm.... how am I suppose to put it how its like...?! Anyway, pros if you're on a plan is that you'd never get to worry that you'd ran out of credit unless you're over your credit limit. You don't have to buy a card anymore. you have free sms and calls. get to have a free phone model that goes with your plan and get to enjoy other services that's not available on prepaid subscribers. Cons: you have a bill to pay. you might get too excited and exceed way over your plan. you won't be able to participate to promos for prepaid subscriber... and I think that's about it. haha.

I prefer prepaid cards, loads are more controllable than post paid subscriptions. One more thing, pasa load is very much affordable.

Actually I face the same situation sometimes. But I think Prepaid is far more better than postpaid.Atleast we can see our balance and use the phone accordingly unlike Postpaid.I know Postpaid offers less rates sometimes, but then they are never under my control.SO I prefer prepaid.

There are many advantages to using a prepaid phone. For example, you won't be surprised at month's end, when you find you have went over your limit resulting in a higher bill. The disadvantage of the prepaid card is once you have used up your time, you have no more phone usage until you re-up. On my daughter's prepaid phone, she gets free unlimited text messaging, so I save a bundle there alone for her!

Hi I am from India. Here in the Pre-Paid cards of most users you can get the balance after every call you make, so that you know how much is left. So there's no need to check every time.

I guess it depends on preference. I used to have a regular phone with nextel where I paid my bill every month but it seemed as if my bill went up every month even though I was not talking more than before. I know have a prepaid service through boost mobile and they have plans where you can pay 40 mth for 300 min. free walkie talkie, and free weekends it's just like a monthly service except you dont have a contract to deal with and if something happens and you dont have the money it does not ruin your credit in the process. This plan is much easier for me and alot less stressful. They have higher plans to for those people who talk more than 300 min. a mth. and free text messaging can be added on for like 5 more dollars a moth. Something to think about if it's offered where you are.

Not only do you get a free phone rexy... you also end up with better rates & more benefits. For 10$ a month with Verizon Wireless you get unlimited text, pixs or videos to ANY verizon wireless subscriber, and 500 messages to anyone without verizon. If you need more messages out side of Verizon users for only 5$ more you can have 1500 out of network!! most prepay text rates are roughly 10 cents a message no matter what. For one set of 500 messages you'd of paid 50$ with prepay!!! This doesn't include the amount of testing you can do between verizon customers, and also doesn't touch upon the ability to send pictures & videos either. Going beyond text messaging you get into better rates for minutes as well & not to mention you no longer have to drive & find the prepay cards, call and activate them, and worry about when they run out on your phone either... all in all post pay is a much more comfortable world.
