Subject Line?

In my few months here I've really seen a huge trend that still seems to continue today. I have seen and experienced the topic lines seem to be what attracts most non mylot friends to discussions. It also seems that most topics listed in refrence to some problem with mylot or about payments get the most response. Just from what I've seen. Granted I've seen serious topics that get more responses but it's the mylot topics the most in my eyes. Do you title the subject line as such for any reasons at all? Have you seen any type of topic trend you wish to state? I'm stating this because I feel myLot should have a bit more info on the "mtLot" info page under FAQ's etc. Thanks for all responses in advance. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

Some discussions here are just one liners, and I have noticed a trend with those and new folks. I dont think thats what MyLot is suppose to be about but oh well, to each their own, we dont have to respond if we dont want to. Another thing I have noticed is that some folks just read the topic line and don't read the discussion, like for example, the discussion I put up about my daughter being bald. I had one response asking why she was bald...just goes to show that the responder didn't read the discussion to begin with. My lotters mean different things to different people, you have your folks that like a good discussion and will respond with clear thought out replies and you have folks that are genuinely seeking honest answers for advice, and then you have some mylotters that are looking to get paid, so their discussions are short, their replies are short and sometimes they miss what the discussion is totally about to begin with. But like I said, to each their own, I know what mylot does for me.

I've had the same thing where they ask a question that the answers right in the discussion. So I knew they hadn't read it. I gave them a negative rating also. Thanks for the great response also.

Your right, Grandpa Bob. You go to the mylot discussions and they go on forever. I got tired pretty quick of reading them and didn't even respond to alot of them. They should make the mylot info page more accurate so ppl don't have to ask what seems the same questions over and over. Then again, some ppl prefer to ask questions than read.

I think the problem is that new people aren't reading the guidelines

As many garbage or weird discussions that have shown up here, I think the subject line is to catch your attention! Also, there are so many discussions started every minute, I tend to scroll by them fairly quickly, so I need the ones to catch my eye so I'll stop and read them.

That's what I'm saying also. Thanks for the response. It seems the mylot pay ones are tops. When do I get paid? How do I get paid? Etc etc. LOL

Well you bring up an interesting topic. I usually title my discussions to grab attention. LOL It does seem to work, I think! I guess it would depend on what you consider a successful discussion. I consider a discussion to be successful if it gets more than 1 response. If it gets over 25 I think it's a great success and if it gets over a 100 then I think it was a slam dunk!!! That's of course just my opinion. I have had 2 slam dunks and both topics were about mylot! :) I believe the reason that the mylot topics are the most successful is because we are all here at mylot and we can all relate. I have seen a few mylotters/mylotians that generally have very successful discussions and I believe this to be, because they think out their discussion, check it over several times prior to posting. They make sure it makes sense, that their grammar and spelling are correct (this is in no way meant to be a negative to those whose first language isn't English) and their topics hit a wide audience. The wider the audience the more can relate and the more responders your likely to get. I believe these members are here for the fun, and enjoy starting only a few very well thought out discussions, because they aren't thinking about the money they in the end make more than those that are thinking about the money. If that makes sense. I agree that their should be a few more specifics in the guidelines. Especially related to discussions that get deleted. I also think that it should be stressed more in the guidelines about the quality of discussions and responses. Of course this is just my opinion. I have found mylot great to answer me back when ever I have a question, regarding what is and what isn't allowed.

Too many subject lines about myLot suggests that the users are too much eager to know more things about myLot and want some expertise suggestions from old or other users. This may be a reason as why one can find the maximum number of responses in discussions having topics that relate to myLot! I have come across a lot of such topics, and the ones I could help others with, got my post!

It seems that in our culture that anything bad or negative will get the most ratings. It is the same with news. I don't like to respond to those type of topics becuase they are usualy doing it to 1. get the ratings, 2. defame Mylot or others 3. kill moral. I just don't get why people do it. I do notice that a lot of people put of phony topics when the discussion is not reflective of the topic. lol.

It does seem like the discussions that get the most responses are about myLot, in some way... from people making "I got paid!" announcements to problems they are having figuring out how the site works. Maybe these discussions are so popular because-- as you say-- there isn't enough info in the FAQ pages. OR it could be because a lot of new members expected that making money on myLot would be "easier" than it actually is... so now they post discussions looking for the "magic pill" that will somehow get them to reach payout levels with no work. That said, I've had my highest number of responses to discussions that had nothing to do with myLot.

Hi Grandpa, I agree with what most have said in this discussion topic. I hesitate to voice my opinion, but I think Grandpa will listen, right? In my 3 weeks with myLot, I analysed topics which generates more responses and those with zero or few responses. I discovered that most zero responses topics tend to be from newbies. I don't blame them. They are just starting out like me and few others here. I feel that we, newbies have questions and need more responses with our queries. We might not be proficient yet in searching for related topics for answers. The uncomfortable feeling I have is that we newbies seems to be ignored by many. I have faith that it is not the case, but today, I am beginning to doubt my faith after reading through many discussions, most from "seniors" who have joined weeks before me. I believe in friends helping friends. How easy is it for us to get friends when we are new? We can only get "new" friends who are also inexperienced as we are. I just feel that our "seniors" just do not want to be friends with us. They are only friends to and respond to discussions who already are very active. My sincere apologies if I offended anyone. I never intend to.

Thanks for the response also. I do listen. And answer. And ask also. I never ignored a newbie. I answer whatever peeks my interest here. I disagree with you a lot actaully. I accquired a lot of friends when I first started posting. It also involves the personality showing throuhg the posting a newbie does I feel. Thanks for the response and also for the disagreeing LOL. Now go to your room till your father gets home. HAHAHA. J/K

It would seem that a subject line that catches the eye is going to get the most responses. There are those who are here to 'converse' and regard this site as a 'chatroom that pays' while others are here to 'discuss' issues of interest.

I agree on the point that myLot ought to have more info on their FAQ. When I first started, I wanted to find out how to post pictures with my replies and even though I contacted myLot's customer service, I found that it was a lot easier just to look for it somewhere in the discussions list.
