Less Than An Hour?

Okay I've seen many discussions that ask about when should you rate a best response. I'm doing this one just to realte as to my actions along this way as I had a response today that was just OUTSTANDING. Now I wait till that one certain response stands out. I've had a few where I rated it in a few hours or a days time. Well today I had a discussion of a serious nature in my life. I got a response within an hour. It just was so good that I had to rate it BR immediately. I kind of feel a little guilty not waiting for more seeing it was like the 4th or 5th one only. But I went ahead and clicked it. So I am saying that if you do get that one response that sticks out like a sore thumb go ahead and give it best response then. I've had topics a few weeks old marked BR that still get responses. The BR doens't stop us true mylotters from responding. It doesn't stop me anyhow. Thanks for this nonsense boring discussion of mine. Hahaha! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

I'm so glad you got a fantastic response straight away, I like to receive a best response and am happy to get on but I never look to see if the BR has gone before I reply, I don't care that much. If I see the BR I will read it as I may learn something. I'm so happy you are having so much fun!

This is not nonsense or boring to me because I have often answered a post after BR and today I learnt I'm a true myLotter, how wonderful it is !!! I will admitt there has been a coule times I've looked at a post wondering if I had anything intelligent to offer than thought of heck I'll leave a comment and by time I get it done BR was picked, but that didn't really offend me because the BR was well deserved. It is in our nature of course to want a BR and really we get them when we deserve to. I'm having fun at this and again thanks.... Take care

I wait untill the discussion stops getting responses most of the time but I think if 1 answer was just really great i would go ahead & mark it BR. I also still respond to discussions even after they have marked a BR. I know alot of the newer members dont but I do. As long as it is a interesting discussion

I really think it depends on the person. I myself wait a few days before chosing the best response, but I have no real reason for that. I know that there are many people who still post after a best response is chosen but there are just as many who don't and I like to see the number of responses growing for me. i know it's pretty crazy but oh well.

Responding helps our pay and also our star ratings so that's why I still personally respond even if a BR is already given. Thanks for your input & response too.

Oh I agree, having a best response chosen doens't stop me from responding if it is something that i really want to respond to. I am not chasing after best responses, I just love sharing my thoughts and opinons.

Like you personally I don't care about the best response has already gone for that particular discussion or not where I am going to respond. For me regarding responding to a dicussion, my main concern is if I can say something valuable about the topic or not. It is not wrong to choose the best response early if you think you have got a really good response.

Last month, I stated that one murder is too many in our community, our fragile city that is still on the journey to recovery. Tonight, I am deeply saddened that our young people continue dying in our streets.

I agree. when a response nails the topic and the spirit of the discussion, and it really resonates with what you meant, you mark it Best Response. I have varied from as little as a half a day to several weeks. It is your discussion, and if in all honesty your first response hits what you mean, mark it. Happy posting back to ya, Grandpa Bob

I have done this before too. Sometimes the response is too good to be true and so I just go ahead and pick them. I know it does not stop me from posting when I see some one has picked a best response; that is not how mylot works anyway.

I respond whether a best response has been selected or not. I hardly ever check to see if I get best responses. I need to do that more often, but I am in no way concerned about it. I think you have the right ideas.

I do not mind responding to post with best response marked already, grandpa. In fact, I will check on my friends previous discussions from time to time, no matter how old it is now. If I feel I can add something more then I will. Don't worry about that grandpa. All the best and happy posting.

I think it depends on each individual person. I personally like to wait a few days to give everyone a chance to respond before handing out a BR to someone. I've given out a BR before, only to find that someone gave a response later that was outstanding, and I don't like to make the mistake of being too hasty again lol.

What I guess about your discussions is that "sort of discussions you start are of those nature that would really be pondered a lot" before giving an acceptable response. Its upto you that what makes appealing. It could be the very fisrt response you have! I do award a best response after some days because I have a little attention due to poor quality discussion I start, sometimes. Good to see you with 828 mark at the moment. Have a good night Grandapa Bob with sweet dreams also. Best Regards!
