It depends on what you think the definition of "better" is. If it's mental stress, then Yoga would be better. If it's aerobic, then it's should be running. If it's strength, then going to the Gym would be better. I think a good combination of all them is probably the best way to go.

I regularly take a walk in the morning as well as in the evening and that too 4 Kms each time. That means I walk for almost more than eight killometers a day. My diet too is well in control. I do not take sugar, rice and oil at all in my meals. As such I am not a diabetic patient but just don't take the sugar even in the cup of tea. I consume only 1200 to 1500 callories a day. All this discipline has kept me well healthy and fit. I would like to advise you all that no exercise is needed other than the the regular walk, provided it's regular and a normal walk never less than 8 to 10 kms. Wish you all mylotters a good health.

I feel morning walk is the simplest, easiest, and safest exercise that anyone can do anytime. It burns calories, relaxes oneself and also helps clear one's thoughts. Then yoga is good for mental health. Playing sports like tennis and soccer also helps as it is fun and also burns calories.

Walking - a stroll thru ny central park
I have recently started an exercise program for myself, and since it has been a long time since I have done any exercising at all, I figured I would start off with something kindof easy and my choice was walking. Our weather here is becoming warmer and those mid-day walks are really becoming very enjoyable. Next I am going to add on yoga or pilates, I am not sure exactly which but it will be one of them and after that who knows...SS

Exercise is a critical component of good health, especially as you age. Exercise will help you: Sleep better Lose weight, gain weight, or maintain weight, depending on your needs Improve your resistance to fight infections Lower your risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes Help your brain work better, making you smarter. The key to obtaining the benefits of exercise is to find a program and stick to it. Of course, it is useful to have a guide, and toward that end I offer the recommendations below and an exercise table you can print out and use to help you track your progress. Key points to remember when exercising: Listen to your body. If exercise worsens symptoms, modify your program or, if need be, stop. As your energy and health improve, you will be able to tolerate larger amounts of the aerobic exercise, which will lead to weight loss. It helps to hire a personal trainer who can guide you through the specifics of a good exercise program. If you do use a personal trainer please be aware that many don't understand the nutritional principles discussed on this site, and it is useful to ask them to read the nutrition plan to understand the healthy direction you are taking. Be consistent. You need at least 30 minutes of exercise a day to experience any weight loss benefits. Major studies have shown that 60 minutes a day is actually best. Ideally, the exercise should be continuous, but it could be split up into two 30-minute sections. Start with walking if you are overweight. Most heavy people start with walking and that is an excellent choice, as it is low-risk and inexpensive. The major problem with walking, however, is that many people become fit relatively rapidly but don't increase the intensity of the workouts as they become more fit. Once you become comfortable with a routine, it is important to increase the intensity in order to continue benefiting.

I walk 5-7 miles a day on a treadmill or outside climbing hills in the summer..I love it..I also have a pilates machine that I use 4 times monthly for stretching and core work... and I am restarting my yoga classes...they are so good for my mind and body...I do aerobics once a week ( but not religiously) and need to begin some strength training...I am 58 years old and I believe that we can look younger and act younger, walk taller and stay healthier if we exercise daily..it can be a life changing activity...and then everyday for at least 10 minutes I meditate...nothing fancy...just me and the quiet reflection of my goals and needs...:)
