Blogging for fun or profit?

I've been blogging for several years now, and I enjoy it tremendously.
I started initially so I would have a place to vent, to write my thoughts, feelings and opinions. I have benefited tremendously by blogging, not only by having a place to express myself, but by the friends I have made.
I recently started a new blog, more experimental listing things that I am searching out to make money with, like mylot.
I'm really not into blogging to make money, but I thought, hey, others are doing it, why not give it a whirl?
It certainly couldn't hurt and hey, I may even learn something as I go.
Blogging has become quite popular over the last several years, people blog for many different reasons. The blogs I enjoy reading are more journalistic in nature, but there are some I have come across of different venues and opinions that I have learned from, or saw a different point of view.
I was just wondering how many here blog for personal enjoyment or for other reasons, like profit.
And has anyone really made a decent amount of money from blogging?
If I don't make money from it, that's ok, I still get personal satisfaction from my personal blogs.

I’ve been blogging for a number of years now. I first started to blog when I was preparing for my wedding. I use to blog to express my rants, my fears, my worries, my excitement or just about anything I want to share.
Then after the wedding, I still maintained my blog as a venue where I can share my thoughts about family life.
I also use it to post pictures of our travel as well as pictures of my beautiful daughter.
Although I don’t update my blog as much now, I enjoy using my blog for fun. I feel that I can just post anything there and nobody will ever complain.

I have a personal blog that I've had for around 18 months now. I started it up as a way to vent, get my feelings and thought down and as a way to preserve precious memories.
I've made a lot of friends along the way and I love surfing through Blog Explosion which is how I found out about MyLot.
I just recently signed up with Blogsvertise which is like pay per post in that they pay you to blog about things that they email to you.
I've done 2 assignments so far and have made $9 from that, and I'm also a member of Pay Per Post although I'm not keen on how they issue assignments based on blog rating on search engines and stuff - so for now, I'm sticking with Blogsvertise. They don't send assignments out very often, so it's not like your blog would be overrun with different sponsored posts.

I use Livejournal.com. I've found it to be much more organized than other blogging sites, and it's where all my friends are.
Blogging is more for venting purposes for me. I'm only 18, so life gets a little dramatic and emotional in a crazy over loaded sense. It drives me nuts. I'd rather not deal with that part of being a teen, but my blog helps a lot.
I've never used my blog to make money, but I might start another one for my drawings and art if I ever get into selling it and/or prints.

LOL, I'm in my forties and life gets a little dramatic and emotional, to use your words!
Life doesn't get any easier, but as we get older we learn how to handle things differently. I use my blog often for a venting forum when things just seem to be too much for me to handle.

Hey, the money is nice believe me, but it ain't high enough to be the priority to be honest! haha. So most certainly I am on this site, and I would blog (I don't currently) only for fun. As a musician, I could make more busking in the streets if I was that short of cash. But it is nice to get the reward for sites like this.
Love and light

that is an interesting question.
Blogging is used to draw attention, this is my opinion.
now how do you define: attention? and why do you have to have attention?
to my opinion there is always a reason to that
a main target for blogging
and the year 2007 blogging is done for appreciation for people that write..but the main reason is for the money.
i know that if i were to open a blog it will be for profit.
but because i do not think that this should be the reason for opening a blog i am not doing that right now.

I've heard it said that bloggers are narcisstic in nature, maybe that is so, I like when people respond to my posts. I enjoy the interaction with other bloggers that I have found common ground with. I have been blogging for a long time without even thinking about making money from it. But since I am blogging anyway, I thought, hey why not try?

Most personal blogs do not offer enough money to do it for profit. It's fun. I do it while I watch television (mostly during the commercials), and if I make a few pennies here and there for a cup of coffee one day -- what the heck?!

I have just resigned from my corpoarte job and this is my first time really to actually explore things on the net. I have friends and sisters who do blogs and they've come up with some real interesting material.. I will try to start one myself. Basically, blogging is very therapeutic in nature. It lets you exammine some issues within yourself and lets you vent out some emotions hiding within you. Moreover, if you just take it seriously and be honest enough with your feelings, it can help you evolve into someone better, more capable of expressing your feelings and more open. It's a revolutionary way of making one's diary public. :)

I've found that not only have I evolved and learned things about myself, but my blog evolved. Then I seemed to outgrow my original one, although it's still there if I decide to go back to it. I recently started a new personal blog, which a friend helped me with, ok, he made the whole template for me, and I love it!
Sometimes I go back and read my archives and think, wow, that was me! Or OH, yeah, I had forgotten about that!

I blog for both reasons, because I enjoy it and because I can make money while doing it. Makes sense to me to make money while doing something I enjoy. At our real jobs, don't we all want a job we love? Same concept applies here. Recently I found an opportunity where I am getting paid for certain blog posts. So far I have only tried 4 of these posts, but for them 4 posts I have already been approved for $10 in earnings and am waiting on another $27.01. That's $37.01 for 4 posts, maybe 25 minutes of my time, that speaks for itself. So yes, you can make a decent amount of money from blogging, and since you're doing it anyway why not make some money while you're at it.

I love to blog. I also do it for mostly venting. Before the internet came along, I would just set and write. Now I can blog and get some feed back from it.

I love blogging. As you grow older, your circle of friends becomes smaller and limited. We couldn't keep in touch with friends as we used to do before. We are all busy and focused with our own lives. Through blogging, we could still vent or voice out especially if there's something troubling us. What is so nice now, there's a site that you'll be paid for all your blogs.

I haven't been blogging very long but when I joined myspace and cafemom I was blogging more often and now I love it. I just recently learned of mylot and thought hey why not try it. I don't think you make alot of money all at once but if sites like mylot continue and people stick with it, there's is potential for earning a little extra money in your pocket. I stay at home and on the internet everyday so I figure this is a great way to make a little extra pocket change and I have fun doing it. I would definitely blog even if I wasn't getting paid.
