It's very easy to say NO to them. I used to say it all the time!
The inpact when I actually said YES was so huge it was memorable to them for years afterwards.
You want to try it sometimes - say after me - NO!!!

I just firmly say no, and if they keep on I just ignore them. They know with me that no means no and any amount of moaning won't change my mind. I just think you have to firm and stand your ground.

Why is it difficult to say no? If they deserve an explanation, give it to them. After that, if they keep on, ignore them or make them go to their room.

I believe the best way to deal with this is say no. I would also explain to them why I said no. i appreciate it is hard to deny them things, but I do not velieve the solution is to give in to unreasonable demands. If a demand is unreasonable it should be possible to explain that to the kids.

I also just say no, but I've never been able to get away with "because I said so!" as an explanation! LOL!! It's ok not to give in to our kid's every whim. To do so would be to spoil him/her. Our children need to learn how to handle disappointment as a part of life. It's a part of growing up.
