When I go shopping I tend to prefer to have a shopping list with me each time I need to go shopping for a few items. I don't just try to have a mental list of what items I need to buy.. I find if I was to do this that I wouldn't always be able to remember everything that I would end up needing to get.
Also I find when I create a shopping list for me before I head out to do my shopping. I find I tend to stick to that budget usually instead of purchasing everything & anything I come across. It's almost like I had created a strict budget for me each time I decide to take a shopping list with me. I no my limit, & I know what I need to get, & what I don't need to get usually. I find it helps to prevent me from spending more money without even thinking of as to why I am buying these certain products & so forth.
I also find sometimes when I have gone to do my shopping.. And I didn't have a shopping list on me at all.. And I also would try to remember what I needed & go from there.. That I began to waste a lot of money. Instead of having a strict shopping list on me I would begin to start just purchasing whatever I would see that was right in-front of me. I found it rather difficult to remember what I needed because I would begin to concentrate just on the things I had wanted. Instead of remembering what was important when it came down to my shopping list, I began to purchase things that just truly didn't matter in the long run.
I have also found by having a shopping list with me each time that I saved a lot of my time to. I knew what I was going to the store for each time I had taken a shopping list with me.. And I would go for those things, pick them up & would be out of there rather fast.
When I went without a shopping list I had found that all I would do is just wander the store not really knowing what I had come for. Sometimes it's difficult to have a metal list of the items you wish or need to buy. Because I find you tend to get more distracted when there isn't a shopping list right in front of your very own eyes.
In conclusion.. Due to my experiences without taking a shopping list with me.. And always purchasing items that just honestly weren't in my budget or weren't even on my shopping list.. I ended up spending more money that just wasn't at all necessary. I find whenever I go shopping now taking a shopping list with me benefits me quite a lot in the long run.
I find I stick to my shopping list & end up saving a lot more money.. But also a lot more time by having my shopping list in hand each time I have to go pick up a few items from the store. I think taking a shopping list with me truly has benefited me in the long run & I think it's the best decision to make when a person goes shopping.. It helps a great deal when you actually know what you are buying.. Instead of having to wrack your brain for what you may need at that current time during your shopping experience & then instead getting distracted by other items! . .
Thanks for allowing me to share! xx

I sometimes make a list. Most of the time we just go through the aisles in order and pick up what we need. We eat a lot of the same stuff because of our diets - so we know what we are looking for.

before, i used to have a mental list of items to buy, or no list at all. i just buy what i want or what i need. i have realized that in doing it this way, i waste a lot of time and money. for example, if i was to buy tissue and rice, i end going home with chips, chocolates, juice and so many other things instead that i don't really need and i end up forgetting the things i went there for!! so the next day would be a trip to the grocery again to buy the tissue and rice that i was supposed to have bought yesterday.
after a while, i decided i would bring a list with me and everything not on that list couldn't be bought. i even arranged the list by priority. there were still unnecessary things in that list but it was towards the end of the list already. it was my 'it's-okay-if-not-bought' list. this way, i can save money, and i can go home with the things i initially went to the grocery for.

I usually have to take a written lists when my children go with me. If I forget the list, the I end up buying way too many items during that shopping trip.

It depends on how much I have to get. If I only have to get one or two things, I don't take a list. If it's more than that though, I like to have a list so that I don't forget to buy anything I need. I make lists for a lot of things. They help me to stay organized!

I always make a list on paper of the items I have to have. If I don't I will forget when I get there. I have two small kids, and if i didn't have the list I wouldn't get half the items I needed. My mind would be too busy keeping up with them. lol

I usually make a list of what I need and then I try to put them in order from where I go in the grocery store, for instance when I first walk in there is produce, so I put all the produce first, then there is cheeses, and luchmeat. I find this makes it easier to get through the grocery store. I know it seems weird, but it really helps me. because then I dont go scrambling across the list and I dont have to go back and forth in the store, and I usually never forget anything.
