I believe refined sugar products such as high fructose corn syrup. These are the largest factors in people gaining weight and/or type-2 diabetes. Once these unhealthly sugars are in your body, I believe it's makes the red meats and cholesterols harder to digest. Usually people who eat large amounts of sugars are fat and can not work out to increase their metabolism to get rid of the cholesterol and their heart start to get weak.

People whose intake of food containing too much cholesterol are more prone to getting heart diseases. Once Cholesterol in the human body is over the actual amount that it should be in, it starts to accumulate in the blood vessels, arteries and veins from inside. This causes the narrowing of the blood carrying vessels, which later results in high blood pressure. Once this happens and cholesterol continues to deposit in body, it slowly chokes the vessels and ultimately blood circulation is disturbed causing heart failure and other such diseases.
The best way to prevent such situation is to go for food that contains very less fat and cholesterol!

my dear, heart disease is a really multifactorial disease...so it is not a problem you can solve with avoidance of one food...of course if you want to avoid or reduce the risks of heart disease, you have to avoid smoke, fatty foods, take care with salts and oil and butter of course and eat fresh fruit, vegetables, use olive oil, have a good variety of food and do a little of exercise...that is ...if you want to do your best to keep healthy, you must live in a healthy way...it is the best you can do and it helps you keep fit and you are surely feeling well...

Well I would say in scotland it is fried foods that cause the most problems as the fat clogs the arteries! Thinks like chips can be oven baked to cut down the fat but also cooking with a health grill (George Foremans lean mean grilling machine e.g.) can make a huge difference to the amount of fat consumed! While you cook sausages, steaks, burgers and even chicken you can see the fat running into the drip tray! puts you off eating foods cooked in fat for ever!

..beef fat! And it can be helped by grilling the meat rather than frying.. and by leaning toward the leaner cuts..

Red meat. They have the highest concentration of HDLs which are the bad cholesterols. The best way to cook it is on the grill to let the fats drip off, but it doens't remove the HDLs. And it's not one food that contributes to hart disease. Part of it is your own genetics and if you are predisposed to this. Part of it is your entire eating habits and your exercise habits. If you cover your vegetables in butter, and eat red eat every day, and finish off every meal with a heavy dessert, you are going to be in more trouble than someone who eats a salad with their steak and goes running 3 miles every day. So you can't eliminate one food and think that you have removed the risk of heart disease.

As we know heart ailments are caused by many factors, one of which are the foods we take daily. Foods rich in saturated fat include butter fat in milk products, fat from red meat, and tropical oils such as coconut oil may contribute to having heart attacks. Also extra cholesterol from foods that come from animals (meats, eggs, and dairy products)also increase the risk of heart attacks.
'A study from Harvard Medical School shows that eating lots of refined carbohydrates can also cause heart attacks. High glycemic index foods include all those that have added sugar such as pastries, cakes, cookies and most soft drinks; those made from flour such as bakery products and pastas; fruit juices; root vegetables such as potatoes and beets; and fruits.'

For meats, one way to reduce the fats and cholesterol contents is through grilling and boiling. Avoid fried foods as much as possible.

A lot of things contribute to heart disease. Food, genes, smoking, weight and ect. However, if we exercise and cut out fats from our diets, it will help us.

Some of us no matter what is proned to have heart disease and some who should have it do not. I don't think it is all about food, I think our genes and life style may have as much impact as the foods we eat. The main foods today would be almost anything because of the way it is prepared before we purchase it. All meats, vegetables and fruits have some type of something to preserve them, these preservatives can cause heart disease. We need to exercise more and eat less.

i know its a truism, probably far too obvious, but as far as i know, the largest contribution to heart disease is fried food. Surely this could be reduced by boiling or grilling food?
blessed be

think butter and cheese are probably the worst. And anything with full fat. It's always best to try to cook without butter, even if you are going to use oil instead.

I think pork and beef contribute most to heart disease even if the meat is quite lean. But not all who eat pork and beef acquired heart disease, it's a matter of genetics and unhealthy lifestyle. So no matter how you cook them, extracting the fat or whatever, you are likely a candidate of heart disease if it runs in your family.

Well, actually there should be something we can do to help prevent heart disease such as high blood pressure or coronary artery disease.Poor diet does contribute to heart disease. The role of fat intake in heart disease is now fairly clearly established. The following are some foods considered avoiding:deep-fried foods, red meats, sugar, salt(if you have high blood pressure),hydrogenated oils,ice-cream,and so forth. In food processing,we degrade proteins by frying and high heat.Taking relatively unprocessed foods
is considered heart healthy.
